Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star (2003) - 14 mistakes
These mistakes are currently being ordered by time. Entries without times will appear at the end.
Directed by Sam Weisman, starring Alyssa Milano, Craig Bierko, David Spade, Doris Roberts, Jon Lovitz, Mary McCormack (add more)
Genres: Comedy
Continuity: In the scene when Sally is about to audition, another little girl goes before her. When the little girl finishes, there is a shot of her face with her hands on her head. In the shot from behind, we see her put her hands down, but when we see the shot from the front, see is putting her hands down again.
Visible crew/equipment: After Dickie replaces the rabbit back in its cage, he sits down with Sam, Sally and the mom with the fence behind them. Through the cracks, you can see crew members rushing by.
Continuity: In the scene where Dickie is in the stroller, when his "mother" talks to her friend, watch over the friends right shoulder, the van keeps disappearing and re-appearing as the shot changes.
Revealing: Dickie is in the garage with Sam and sally, and throws down the farm toy. You can see a battery on the ground, yet it is still making noise.
Visible crew/equipment: When Dickie steals Rob Reiner's car at the restaurant, when he opens the door, the camera and crew are reflected.
Deliberate "mistake": When the neighbourhood kids are teaching Dickie to ride a bike, whenever he hits something his brown hair dye, that he applied a few scenes back, is missing from his hair (obviously a stunt double is in place for David Spade).
Revealing: When Dickie is learning how to ride a bike he falls down about four times and then hits a car and flies over it. As you watch him the camera goes to his point of view before he hits the car and you can see a dent where he had obviously hit before.
Audio problem: During the "Child Stars" song at the end, the crowd sing "...if you call her Marsha, she'll bust your friggin' head." But they mouth the 'F' Word.
Continuity: When Dickie meets Sam and Sally getting off the schoolbus, Dickie is holding a brown ballcap in his left hand, but when they walk into the house he is wearing a blue one.
Revealing: In the scene where David Spade and Scott Terra give a serenade on stilts, both characters rise up from behind a fence perfectly vertically. It's impossible to slowly rise upwards while on stilts the way the characters did. The way they rise, it's impossible for them to have simply had their knees bent and stood up straight. They must have been raised up on a machine.
Continuity: When Dickie is helping Sam get Barbie to go out with him they sing a song on stilts. We see the stereo that is supposedly playing the music and it is to the right of Dickie. When Dickie falls down on the stilts he falls to the left and the music stops like he had hit it. It was on the other side the whole time.
Continuity: After stealing the car, Dickie stops at the traffic light. After insulting the guy in front of him, he rolls up the windows, then drives away. When the camera angle changes, you can see that the window is now still half way open.
Revealing: In the "Child Stars" song at the end, before Leif Garrett sings, Dickie is playing guitar. His guitar has no strings.
