Cheech and Chong's Up In Smoke (1978) - 32 mistakes

Revealing: When Cheech and Chong are parked in their car smoking a joint, the car is filled with smoke. The smoke must come from a smoke machine outside as it is moving around very fast as if blown by the wind.

Revealing: During the Battle of the Bands, when Cheech is playing his electric guitar it is not plugged up. Also, his voice is echoing through the stadium but he's nowhere near a microphone.

Continuity: When Cheech is turning over his car to pick up Chong you see him starting to turn over before he reach Chong. When it cuts Cheech has passed Chong before turning over.

Revealing: When the cop on the motorcycle pulls Cheech and Chong over, one of the hippie girls is sitting in the front with Chong. Chong orders her to get in the back. She goes back behind the curtains and sticks her head out front. He pushes her back again. In a shot from the back of the van, you see Chong pushing her back, but you also see through the crack in the curtain that it is totally dark in front of the van. Since there is daylight outside, it shouldn't be totally dark.

Continuity: When Chong's father is shouting "we're not gonna have a family brawl," there is a big bottle of juice on the edge of the table by Chong. It cuts away for three seconds and then back to Chong. The bottle of juice has moved to the middle of the table. Also, Chong has poured juice into the mixture. He wouldn't have had time to do all that in just three seconds.

Continuity: When Cheech says "He's right man, these are lame" to Curtis, one of the band members is standing behind Curtis. When it cuts to a closeup of Curtis, the guy is gone.

Continuity: When Cheech asks Chong if he is driving ok you can see a lot of smoke inside of the car. When it cuts all the smoke is gone.

Continuity: When Cheech pulls down his cap in front of his eyes and shouts "I'm blind" you can see some cars stop beside them. When it cuts the cars are gone.

Continuity: After Cheech has asked the girls if they need a ride he spots Chong hitchhiking. He then takes a u-turn to the other side of the road. At this time you still see the girls sitting in their original position. When it cuts you suddenly see a van has appeared from out of nowhere and the girls are suddenly walking to it.

Continuity: When Cheech and Chong come into the courtroom, the judge takes off her glasses and holds them. When it cuts, she isn't holding them anymore.

Audio problem: When Cheech and Chong are being questioned by the officer at the border, the officer says "you got any narcotics, any marijuana in here?". His lips continue moving but we can't hear him.

Continuity: When the band is done playing, sparks shoot out of Cheech's guitar and the guitar is burning. When it cuts, the guitar isn't burning anymore, then it is burning again.

Continuity: Just before Cheech gets up from the couch, a girl is getting up from the floor. When Cheech is putting his foot into the bowl of cereal, you can see the girl's knee as she is still sitting on the floor.

Continuity: In the beginning when the kid is crawling on Cheech, you see Cheech putting him on the floor head first. When it cuts he is putting the kid on his feet.

Continuity: When Chong is walking by his father you see him carrying some items in his hand. When it cuts he is carrying the items in another way.

Continuity: After Chong fights with with his parents, he walks away and his mother is looking at him smiling. When it cuts, she is suddenly doing her toenails.

Continuity: When Curtis is talking to Cheech about his car and says "you got a taste of soul", Cheech is standing with both his hands in his pockets. When it cuts, Cheech suddenly has a hand scratching his chin.

Continuity: When Cheech tells the cop that his name is Pedro de Pacas, Cheech is holding his wallet. When it cuts, the wallet is gone and he is holding the wheel instead.

Continuity: When Cheech and Chong have parked the car and Cheech asks "Am I driving OK?", Chong is holding the joint. When it cuts, the joint is gone.

Continuity: When Chong is in the phone with Cheech and about to go outside you can see a man in a white hat dancing by himself. When it cuts the same man is dancing with a woman.

Other: When Cheech and Chong are crossing the street talking about Cheech's uncle, two buses are coming. When the second bus passes by the camera, a kid on the bus waves his hand to the camera.

Continuity: When Chong is trying to calm Cheech down in the car, Cheech is sitting with both hands up. When it cuts, his hands are down.

Continuity: When Cheech picks up Chong in his car, Chong has some grass in his beard. The grass changes position between the shots.

Visible crew/equipment: When Cheech and Chong get to the border, Cheech spots some nuns in the car beside them. Watch closely in the window of the van when Cheech is looking at the nuns. You can see a man standing there looking at something and then looking at the van. This man wasn't standing there when there was a wide shot of the scenery.

Continuity: When Cheech and Chong get to the courtroom, there are two pencils on their table. When Chong falls to the floor, no pencils are to be seen.

Continuity: Right before the car crashes into the police car that has stopped behind Cheech, you see a red car pass the police car. When it cuts, the red car passes the police car again.

Continuity: When Cheech sings "Keep on knocking but you can't come in" to the cop, you see the cop pointing at the car window. When it cuts the cop isn't pointing anymore.

Continuity: The kid turns on their television. It cuts and all the kids are far away from the TV. The one that turned it on couldn't have moved away from it that fast.

Continuity: When Cheech is getting off the couch, you see him putting his foot on the floor just missing the bowl of cereal. When it cuts to a closeup, you see his foot going right into the bowl.

Visible crew/equipment: When Chong gets into the Beetle and drives it out of the garage, the shadow of an arc light can be seen on the car.

Continuity: Right after Cheech puts his foot in the bowl of cereal, he's lying down backwards on the couch and tipping his head back. When it cuts, he suddenly is getting up from the couch.

Continuity: Cheech picks up Chong and they sit in the car and talk. When Chong says "Wow, looks fantastic," Cheech is looking at him, but when it cuts Cheech is looking in the mirror fixing his cap.
