The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1994) - 50 mistakes

Visible crew/equipment: When Leatherface is chasing Jenny, she gets into a couple's caravan. After Leatherface tries to get in, it cuts to an exterior shot and as Leatherface is running along with the caravan, in the window behind him you can see a crewmember with a cap on, running behind him off-screen.

Continuity: Jenny wears a white silk scarf loosely around her neck, as part of her prom outfit. As Leatherface chases her through the muddy river, the scarf falls down her body to her waist. In the next shot though, it's back round her neck. But oh no, the fun doesn't stop there. After this, she removes the scarf from her neck and throws it in the river, not one, not two, but THREE times between shots.

Visible crew/equipment: When Jenny crawls across her car, you can clearly see the black kneepads she is wearing.

Continuity: As Heather is driving off and Barry is chasing after her, in one shot you can see the back tyre hubcap roll off of the car Heather is driving, but in the next shot the hubcap is still on.

Revealing: As Leatherface breaks parts of the front door out with his chainsaw, there are three very large cracks in the door, presumeably to help him break the parts of the door out. In all previous shots/scenes, there were no cracks in the same part of the door.

Continuity: Darla's window gets smashed by some local boys, and when she flashes them you can see there is some kind of netting in the window which is ripped. In the next shot the netting has vanished from the window.

Continuity: When Jenny is hiding in the trees all out of breath, after Vilmer drives off in his truck, the left shoulder strap of Jenny's prom dress is up on her shoulder but then in the next shot it has fallen down her arm. In the following shot it is back on her shoulder! Also there is a flowery corsage on her dress which is on top of a bow which is part of the dress; but in the next shot the corsage is under the bow, then back to being on the bow in the final shot.

Continuity: When Vilmer says to Jenny "I asked you a goddamn question" Darla is looking inside a cabinet in the background. In the very next shot she's now at the table putting makeup on.

Visible crew/equipment: When Jenny lands on the roof, near the left of the screen by the side of the house, trying to hide behind some black bin-liner, is a boom mic moving about.

Continuity: Leatherface Chases Jenny through a muddy river, but when they reach the house seconds later, they are both very much drier.

Continuity: When Jenny jumps through the window, the whole window (frame + glass) breaks and falls out. When Leatherface runs to the window, the middle wooden frame of the window is back in the windowframe, intact.

Factual error: In the closing credits Matthew McConaughey's name is misspelt "Matthew McConnaughey."

Revealing: In the end when Jenny is sitting in a chair at the hospital with a doctor, in the glass screen behind the doctor you can see the reflection of the gurney which will be pushed on-screen in a few seconds. The doctor is obviously waiting with the gurney for his cue to come past.

Continuity: When Leatherface is putting Heather in the freezer and then when he runs out of the room, the rate at which the lightbulb on the cord swings differs between shots through the scene. In one shot it's totally still, but it is swaying violently in the next shot.

Continuity: After getting the pizza's, as Darla is walking across the porch to indoors and then stops to have a go at W.E, the door behind them goes from wide open to shut between shots.

Continuity: Jenny's position immediately changes, when she jumps onto the wire.

Continuity: When Leatherface grabs Heather on the porch, he pulls her towards the door and then rams into the door with Heather in his arms going into the door first. However when it changes to an interior shot of the house, and they come bursting through the door, Leatherface comes in first with his back to the door.

Visible crew/equipment: When Jenny runs to Darla's trailer after being chased by Leatherface, she runs inside and trips, and her dress pulls upward, beautifully revealing the flesh-coloured kneepads she's wearing for the stunt.

Continuity: When Darla arrives home, as she is walking indoors with the pizzas, the pizza boxes rotate in her hands a few times, evident by the large "pizza" printed on one side of the box.

Revealing: When Vilmer is chasing after Jenny across the field in his truck, in the frontal shots of Jenny running you can see that she is wearing some kind of (protective?) white leggins that are not present in any other scene.

Visible crew/equipment: After the car crash in the forest, as the camera pans past the car of the teen who is knocked out you can see the cameraman reflected in the window.

Visible crew/equipment: When Jenny first enters the house, she runs upstairs and finds a gun. Then she runs down the stairs and points it at Leatherface; in this shot as she runs down with the gun, you can see a microphone at the top of the screen.

Continuity: When Darla is telling her blonde joke to Jenny and Heather in her trailer, in the wideshot her hands are on her desk but in the closeup her arms are up by her face.

Revealing: When Jenny is cowering in the corner of the roof, as Leatherface is attacking the chimney with his chainsaw, you can clearly see that Jenny is not Renée Zellweger, but a stunt double.

Continuity: When Jenny is in Vilmer's truck and he is talking to her and scaring her, during the whole scene in the truck, Jenny's hair is inconsistent throughtout. Sometimes it is messy, then neater and her fringe constantly changes position.

Continuity: As Leatherface puts Heather in the freezer, Heather's silk gloves are rolled right down her arms in one shot, but are half-folded up in the next.

Continuity: When Barry and Heather are walking along in the woods, as Barry says "that bitch, she started this whole thing," his collar changes from tucked under his black suit to suddenly being out, between shots.

Continuity: As Jenny is climbing up a big aeriel on the roof, Leatherface swings his chainsaw at the aeriel. In shots of him swinging the chainsaw, Jenny has disappeared from the aeriel. You can almost see the whole aeriel, and she isn't there!

Continuity: After Jenny yells "It's fucking pathetic" to Vilmer, Vilmer gets mad and throws a book across the room, and then grabs Darla and throws her to the floor. The chair next to Darla has three bones on the top of it as 'decoration.' As Vilmer grabs her and throws her down, the tall white bone on top of the chair falls to the floor. But in the next shot as Vilmer whacks W.E with a hammer, the bone is back on the chair.

Revealing: When Jenny jumps through the window, as she lands on the roof she rolls to the side and her legs fly upward. You can clearly see she has protective padded socks on. She is barefoot in all previous and following shots.

Continuity: When Leatherface gets Heather in the house, he grabs her and drags her down the hallway, as he enters a room, Heather grabs the sides of the doorway, to pull herself away from him. In the shot, you can see the wall to the right of the doorway has a mirror on the wall, nothing else, and on the counter below is a few lone lightbulbs and a coke can. However in the next shot, so many objects appear. There's now meathooks, chains and belts hanging on the wall either side of the mirror, and the counter is now covered in canisters, metal barrels and boxes.

Revealing: As she is chased by Leatherface, Jenny runs to Darla's real estate trailer and bangs on the door. As soon as the trailer comes into shot, you can clearly see through the glass of the door, Darla is standing by the door already (waiting for cue) and then she opens the door after a few seconds, in suprise.

Continuity: When Jenny is standing at the open door of Vilmer's truck, asking him where Sean is, she has her left hand resting on the truck door. In the next shot it's her right hand resting on the door, and then her left again in the next shot.

Continuity: The cut above Jenny's left eye differs in various scenes. For instance, in the kitchen scene it is at least a centimetre above her eyebrow, but then in the scene where Vilmer holds the knife up to her throat it is right above her eyebrow.

Visible crew/equipment: When Darla is at Bud's Pizza Drive-Thru, she gets out the car to go round to the boot and tell Jenny off. As she walks round to the boot, in the backseat window you can see the reflection of arms holding a boom mic pole.

Continuity: W.E brings a big part of a door into the kitchen and says "look at what your brother did to this door," and then he places it down so it leans up against the other door. Then moments later the big section of the door is now lying on the floor. It is leaning back up again a few seconds later.

Continuity: When Jenny is in the car with Vilmer, there is a radio speaker hanging on a wire next to her. When she says “What’s gonna happen to me,” between shots the radio speaker disappears from the end of the wire.

Continuity: When Jenny jumps through a window to get away from Leatherface, the window next to the window she jumps through is closed. Seconds later it is open.

Continuity: When Leatherface is chasing Heather, he breaks through the door, and a large portion of the door breaks out and falls to the floor. But in the next shot, the same part of the door that fell out is still broke off, but is now half hanging from the door and then falls off again.

Continuity: When Leatherface chases Jenny on the roof, he starts knocking bricks off of the chimney with his chainsaw. Some bricks that fall off the chimney reappear back on it in the next shot.

Continuity: After the car crash, Barry kneels down to check the man’s pulse. In the next shot Barry is nowhere near the man, but in the next shot he is still checking his pulse.

Continuity: In the car crash, the man is wearing a black shirt in the wide shot, but a white shirt in the close-up.

Visible crew/equipment: As Vilmer and Jenny are driving along in his truck, in some shots of Vilmer, through the glass of the truck behind him, you can see a crewmember in white, wearing a watch.

Audio problem: When Vilmer says “Welcome… to mmmyyy world.” his mouth says “Welcome… to mmmyyy home.”

Continuity: When Leatherface chases Jenny, she locks the front door and then Leatherface uses his chainsaw to break pieces of the door out. However in a rear shot some of the door that Leatherface previously broke off is now back intact.

Continuity: When the motorbike rides by, Jenny runs after it yelling "No, wait." In this shot Jenny has the flashlight in her right hand and the big red rose as part of her prom outfit is on her left breast. But the next shot is obviously flipped, as the torch is now in her left hand and the rose is on her right breast.

Continuity: Between shots from when Vilmer leaves the kitchen (and throws the big broken part of door at the wall) and then when W.E leaves the kitchen seconds later, the trash over the hallway floor and the kitchen floor (cardboard, wood, paper) drastically differs position and location, and additional trash appears too.

Continuity: When Jenny runs upstairs and notices the police officer in the corner of the room, how wide open the door is changes between shots.

Continuity: When Vilmer lights the girl's back on fire as she's passed out at the table, she gets up and starts stumbling towards a wall covered in keys. As she stands up, there is no visible fire on her back. In the next shot as she is up against the wall, her back is on fire again.

Continuity: In the scene when Vilmer is standing on Darla's throat, we see her laying across the floor horizontally away from him, but in the next shot, we see that she is laying vertically to him.
