In the scene where Paulie tells the Jenday conure that he likes her, she repeats him when he says "I really like you a lot", "Wow, I'm so glad you feel that way", and "Are you listening?", I'm pretty sure no one (in the movie) taught her to say that. Therefore, she shouldn't have been able to repeat that. See more...

When Tony Shaloub is describing a girl he fell in love with in his childhood, he is describing a real girl he knew in his childhood.
The first Spanish song performed by Cheech Marin, Paulie, and the parrots in the cantina is the same song sung by Antonio Banderas and his mariachis in the opening sequence of "Desperado". Cheech Marin is the cantina owner in the other film as well.
