Cube 2: Hypercube (2002) - 57 mistakes

Visible crew/equipment: When we first see Mrs. Paley coming through a door, reflected on the shiny surface of the door is a boom mic.

Revealing: When Becky meets Simon in the cube, they hug, then Simon literally stabs Becky in the back. As she falls down to the floor, her black shirt reveals not only some of her chest, but part of a black microphone wire.

Continuity: When Maguire grabs his suitcase and is about to open it, we can see his left foot stretched out on the floor. When it cuts to a close-up of him opening the suitcase we can see his foot is crouched.

Audio problem: When Simon opens the portal to discover Jerry walking upside down, Jerry is saying things like "Do you need a hand there? You're upside down", yet his mouth doesn't move at all.

Continuity: When they are lowering Maguire, Jerry is holding onto Maguire's jacket behind his shoulder. When it cuts Jerry's hand is in front of Maguire's shoulder.

Continuity: When they are lowering Colonel Maguire down after his suicide attempt, Max is looking down to his left. When it cuts he is looking down to his right.

Continuity: When Jerry marks the door with "5" he place his palm flat on the wall. When it cuts, his fingers are bent.

Continuity: When they start running from the moving wall Jerry grab Sasha holding her left hand. When it cuts he is holding her right hand.

Visible crew/equipment: When we see first Kate open a door, it opens, and she leaves her hand up, then slowly lowers it. Look to the left of the cube-shaped doorway, and you can see in the room behind her, the edge of a stand or table or some equipment, which obviously shouldn't be seen there.

Visible crew/equipment: When Mrs. Paley opens one of the portals, she sees herself getting killed by Simon, then Simon getting his head taken off by something. Then the portal door closes, and a camera and crewman are reflected in the portals shiny surface.

Continuity: When Simon jumps into the room where Maguire is attempting his suicide it cuts to a shot from above and we see Maguire's foot is hanging over Max's foot. When it cuts Maguire's foot is out of sight.

Revealing: When Kate decides to ditch Maguire and escape herself, we get a shot from above showing her face and Maguire's feet. However we only see his trousers. His feet are gone. Even though some could say that the wall removed them, but we can also see that the wall hasn't reached the part of the feet that are missing. It appears the CGI team forgot to add his feet in.

Visible crew/equipment: When Sasha says "I wish I had your spirit" to Kate when Kate is climbing up to open a door, you can see the reflection of the boom mike moving as Kate is climbing.

Continuity: When Kate opens the door to the room Sasha is in, we see her from behind pushing her hand to the door. When it cuts as the door open she suddenly has her hands placed on both sides of the door opening. She could not have moved her hands that fast.

Continuity: When Simon meets up with the "second" Jerry he throws him to the floor making Jerry almost falling through the door. Then Simon grabs Jerry with his left arm, but when it cuts he is holding onto Jerry with his right arm.

Continuity: When Simon breaks Sasha's neck, she falls to the floor, and lands face down. But during the fight between Kate and Simon Sasha's head is now facing to the side.

Continuity: At the end of the movie when Kate is killed from behind, the number and positioning of soldiers in front of her is completely different in the shots immediately before and after Kate's death.

Other: At one point, when entering a room, Jerry says that the gravity is changing. This is completely false. The camera moves around, supposedly in a manner to reflect the changing gravity, but if you follow logic and the motion of the camera, the gravity in the room is the exact same of the room that they just left.

Continuity: The position of the ‘rope’ of clothes on which Simon is holding changes. In one shot he is holding onto a particular part of a shirt, but in the next he’s holding onto a different part.

Visible crew/equipment: When Maguire raises his hands together to say the prayer, you can see the black wire of a microphone, running up into his shirt.

Revealing: When Colonel Maguire is hitting the walls with his suitcase, there is a shot where the suitcase is coming towards the camera. Dust and stains reveal the protective glass that is in front of the camera.

Visible crew/equipment: At one point when everyone is escaping through the doors away from the moving wall, when Simon is the last one to climb through the door. When the door closes we can see a persons arm reflected in the door. That is an impossible position for any of the others to stand in, so it has to be a crew members arm.

Continuity: After Kate has told Jerry Sasha is blind he says "Oh, bummer, to be blind in this place," then he looks up. When it cuts, he looks up again.

Continuity: When Simon and Kate get separated the first time Kate opens the door and lowers her hand. When it cuts she still has her hand up.

Continuity: When Kate figures out the '60659' mystery, when she looks at the watch you can briefly see it reading 6:06:15, then in the next shot, the watch is now reading 6:06:02.

Audio problem: When Kate ventures into another cube room, searching for Max because he appears to be moving from door to door very quickly, she climbs through the door and says "This guy sure moves quickly, he's just..." in a wide shot, but her mouth doesn't move at all. Then in the next closeup of her, she manages to move her mouth to the word 'gone.'

Continuity: When everyone climbs out of the 'Razorsphere Room' Sasha cowers in the left corner of the side of the room opposite to where everyones climbing out. But you can see in the wide shot when Jerry gets killed by the Razorsphere, Sasha is now in the right corner of that side of the room.

Continuity: After everyone releases the colonel from his belt and lay him on the floor, Simon takes out his identification. Between a wide shot to a closeup, the top of the colonel's shirt goes from being tucked under his tie, to being untucked from under it.

Visible crew/equipment: When we first see Kate, she opens a door, and then, she climbs through. As she climbs through, you can see down her blouse, and you can see a microphone.

Visible crew/equipment: When Simon shouts to Kate "You're a dead woman!" because she goes back to rescue Sasha from the Razorsphere, the door shuts in his face, and you can clearly see the camera crew reflected in its shiny surface.

Continuity: During the movie, Max's shoes change, and they obviously can't because he's trapped in the hypercube. When helping the colonel who's hanging himself, you can see Max's shoes are black, but then later on they're blue. This is most noticeable in the scene when Max and Julia are talking, and Max throws his shoe across the room.

Audio problem: When Jerry opens one of the doors, he sees Max holding up the colonel who hung himself. Max shouts "Help Me!" And you can clearly see his mouth never moves when this is said.

Continuity: When they find the dead scientist, Kate helps Sasha put her left foot on the ladder twice.

Continuity: When Jerry is telling about the last thing he remembers was going to sleep we can see Simon's jacket hanging on the handles. When it cuts to a close-up of Jerry the jacket is gone.

Continuity: The properties of the writing on Kate's arm changes throughout the film. The "60659" changes in various scenes. Sometimes the handwriting differs, or the darkness of the writing changes to being fainter, or vice versa.

Continuity: Throughout the movie the blade on Simon's knife changes. In some shots it's a double straight edge blade, in others it's serrated on one side.

Continuity: The blood that Simon wipes off the knife onto his hands disappears instantly.

Continuity: When Kate turns to see all the numbers appear on the silver frame around the portal, although they are meant to be in the same position and handwriting as when they were drawn, much of the writing is not.

Continuity: When Sasha is trapped in the Razorsphere room, she yells “Kate, help,” and then between three shots her necklace changes from tucked under her purple shirt, to hanging out and back to tucked under.

Continuity: Kate writes the numbers on her left arm, with the pen she got from the doctor. In one shot though, the writing is on her right arm.

Continuity: When Simon and Jerry are holding Colonel Maguire and Simon says "Look at his hands. Cigarette burns." First Maguire has his hand down, but when it cuts he is holding it up.

Visible crew/equipment: After solving the "60659" mystery, Kate opens a portal, revealing nothing but darkness outside it. It then cuts to a shot of the watch ticking, then back to Kate who is still kneeling down. In this shot you can clearly see down her blouse, and the long black mic wire and mic is very visible.

Visible crew/equipment: When Julia and Max are talking about Alex Trusk, Max then goes on to tell Julia that he designed the concept for the variable time-speed rooms. As he walks across the room, exclaiming "It was for a game! Now here we are!", watch the floor to the right of the screen, and you can see some black crew equipment laying there, which is nothing that belongs to Julia or Max.

Continuity: When Simon has Mrs. Paley tied to a ladder rung, prior to the slivers of light coming, Simon has two large sweat patches on his grey tee-shirt. Yet when he climbs out of the portal door, away from the slivers of light, the sweat patches have gone in a matter of seconds.

Continuity: Simon ties up Mrs. Paley to the ladder with his belt and threatens to kill her. Then slivers of light start to come out the wall, and he releases her hands from the belt, and chucks it to the floor. Between shots the belt moves and also disappears, only to reappear again.

Revealing: When Kate is in one cube room on her own, looking around, just after losing Simon and just before meeting Sasha, as the camera pans around the room, on most of the black cube doors, clearly reflected on the shiny surface of them, are camera / stage lights.

Continuity: When Kate figures out the '60659' mystery, in the background you can see Sasha laying on the floor dead. Her hair is covering her mouth, but in a later shot, when Kate takes her necklace, her hair has moved to covering her eyes.

Continuity: When Simon first takes Kate down, he covers her mouth with his hand, then with the other hand, holds a knife. In one shot he holds the knife to the side of her face, but in the next closeup shot, he has the knife resting on his other hand, which is covering her mouth. Then in the next shot he is holding the knife to the side of her face again.

Continuity: At the end, when Kate is standing on the edge of the exit of the Hypercube, you can see her through the exit in the shots from below. In the shots from the top however, the black door of the exit is still closed.

Continuity: As everyone leaves the Razorsphere room, Julia leaves her high heels on the floor. Later on in the movie we see as she climbs through a portal, she is holding her heels. In the next shot they vanish.

Revealing: As Sasha stands up, saying she feels something is wrong, to Kate (in the Razorsphere room), you can see smudges and scratches, revealing a protective glass screen between her and the camera.

Continuity: When Colonel Maguire lies down on the floor he prays and folds his hands. When it cuts to a wideshot you can see that he isn't folding his hands anymore.

Continuity: When Jerry scratches a '5' with his watch onto the wall, in a wide shot he starts to scratch the 5, then in the closeup of him scratching it onto the wall, much more of the 5 has been completed between shots.

Continuity: In one scene Jerry draws a cube with his watch. There's then another shot, then in the next shot of Jerry, the cube drawn is totally different from what he drew a minute ago.

Revealing: When Becky climbs through the door and falls upwards a lump appears on her back revealing where the wires are attached as they pull her up.

Continuity: There is a scene where Jerry draws a picture of a cube on the wall with his watch. Later in the movie, the cube appears again on the wall as if drawn by an invisible hand due to the hypercube imploding. In that second scene, the cube, when drawn out, looks nothing like the cube Jerry drew in the first scene.

Continuity: When Kate is climbing up the ladder to see where Max keeps disappearing to, the left half of her outer tee-shirt alternates from tucked into her trousers, to hanging out.
