Merovingian: I have sampled every language, French is my favourite - fantastic language, especially to curse with. Nom de Dieu de putain de bordel de merde de saloperie de connard d'enculé de ta mère! You see, it's like wiping your arse with silk, I love it.

Entry A freeway was built on a military base in California specifically in order to film the freeway chase scene. It was built as a continuous loop that is about 2 miles of freeway. This also explains why you see some of the background repeating.
Entry In the scene were Trinity is fighting the agent in the building having just disabled the grid, when she is fighting and throughout the entire movie there is no visible place to store a gun or two guns as big as the ones she pulls out as she falls down the building, in such a tight suit.
Entry In Egypt, the censorship body banned the film in June because it challenged "the topics of existence and creation".
Entry When the Keymaker is explaining the process that Neo must use to get to the source, he says that the door for the architect will only be open for 314 seconds. The mathematical constant, pi begins with 3.14. Coincidence?
Entry It was the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever in North America until March 2004 when "The Passion of the Christ" passed it. In the history of R-rated films, it has the shortest reign as grossing champion when it held that title for nearly five months (after it passed "Beverly Hills Cop"). However, it is still the highest-grossing R-rated movie worldwide, taking over 100 million dollars more than The Passion of the Christ.
Entry The first movie contained several references to Alice in Wonderland. In Reloaded, when we first encounter the twins in the restaurant, they are smoking a hookah pipe, like the caterpillar did in Alice in Wonderland.
Entry The long haired white wearing goon of the french speaking guy is Reeve's martial arts trainer for the movies.
Entry When the dance starts at Zion, the camera zooms in to show two drummers. The one on the left is Arion Salazar, the bassist for Third Eye Blind.
Entry Towards the end of the freeway chase when the Agent takes control of the truck, the suspenseful sound effects that play in the background are almost identical to those used in the famous truck chase in Terminator 2.
Entry When they are in the matrix the sky and buildings and everything is a shade of green to match the matrix code.
Entry A real power station in Sydney (the White Bay Power Station) was blown up for the - what else - power-station-blowing-up scene. It was slated for demolition anyway and the film makers requested that they organise it and film it. A lot of people got quite excited about it and turned out to watch it all happen, but in the end it was a bit of a let-down - it's obviously been enhanced for the film.
Entry When Trinity is messing around with the nodes, the root password is "z10n0101". Can you see the reference?
Entry When the meeting with the Merovingian takes place look at the windows behind him, the green panes seem to be two-tone with a darker shade running parallel to a lighter one horizontally, it appears to look like the code of the matrix
Entry The 'twin' characters are non-film actors, but carpenters by trade, whose only other screened work was on UK TV programme Carol Vorderman's Better Homes (DIY show). They have done some stunt work, but got the part when the makers of the film were looking for identical male twins who were both skilled in martial arts.
Entry Apoc is probably an abbreviation of "Apocalypse" or "Apocalyptic." This means the destruction and end of the world (and causing death, harm and destruction). Apocryphal means "a story about a famous person or event is well-known but probably not true" (the prophecy was something like this and the famous person is Neo).
Entry In "The Matrix," Smith tells Morpheus several interesting things when they are trying to get the access codes for Zion. When he is talking about the humans, he says what he hates is the smell. "I feel I have somehow been infected by it. It's repulsive. I must get out of here, I must get free." Later he says "Once Zion is destroyed there is no need for me to be here." These are all foreshadowing for Reloaded and Revolutions.
Entry The Merovingian introduces his wife as Persephone. This alludes to Greek mythology, where Persephone was the reluctant wife of Hades, ruler of Hell. This hints that (1) the Merovingian is evil and (2) Persephone doesn't love him (like Persephone hated Hades in mythology).
Entry In a Dateline Special on the special effects of the Matrix Reloaded, host Stone Phillips stated that the special effects shots were not completely done until three weeks before the release date of the movie.
Entry When the three agents arrive and Neo fights with them, he kicks the final agent into a lamp post. The camera pans to the very top of the lamp post, as the glass falls down the top of the lamp post reads: "Darrow Industries" This is an homage to Geof Darrow, the graphic artist for the films.
Entry The translation of the word "Vigilant" (the ship of Captain Soren) is "giving careful attention to what is happening, so that you will notice any danger or illegal activity." The people outside the Matrix are well aware of the situation (war), so they are vigilant. The people in the matrix are oblivious ("billions, just living our their lives." - Agent Smith).
