Old School (2003) - 37 mistakes

Continuity: Will Ferrell is holding a hockey stick right side up when he smashes the glasses on the kitchen counter. When they cut to a wide shot, he is holding the stick upside down.

Other: When Mitch, Frank, and Beanie decide that they are going to have a party they say the party is on a Friday night. When they show the outside of Mitch's house you see the sign for the party and it says the party is on Thursday at 9:00. Then when Frank talks to the guys with the beer bong he says that tomorrow he has nice Saturday planned. If the sign is right then he would have a pretty nice Friday.

Other: When Mitch arrives to find the house boarded up, a note is attached to the door. However, the voiceover and the note begin differently. The note begins as 'Dear Mitch, the house is boarded up...', but the voiceover starts with 'Dear Mitch, if you're reading this, you already know the house is boarded up...'.

Continuity: Frank gets the black eye from Andy Dick's character, but later when he shoots himself with the dart he has no black eye. Then, at Blues funeral when he is talking to his wife, we see the black eye again.

Continuity: When Dean Pritchard is telling the frat guys that they failed, he flips up the first page on his clipboard. While the paper is flipped up, we can see that there is a line drawn through Blue's name. When he flips the paper back down, Blue's name is no longer crossed out.

Continuity: When Will Ferrell is in the living room for the first time, there are two hockey sticks leaning there. One stick has just a stripe of tape on the blade and the other is mostly taped. He is first holding the one with the mostly taped blade and later it shows him with the other hockey stick.

Continuity: When Spanish is running away from the van when the guys are trying to kidnap him, he goes from having his backpack on, to not having it on. Then when Frank tackles him in the fountain, he has the backpack on again.

Continuity: When Luke Wilson is telling his coworkers what they need to do to get into the fraternity, he hands a tiny piece of paper to Matt Walsh. In the next shot, the paper is missing from his hand.

Continuity: When Frank shoots himself in the neck with the dart gun, we see him fall over a table as his sandal falls off his right foot, but in the next shot his sandal is back on his foot.

Continuity: When Frank is seen streaking down the street, there is a brunette in the back of his wife's vehicle and she is wearing a hat, but in the end of the scene after Frank has sat beside her the hat disappears between cuts.

Continuity: When the guys pull into the parking lot to kidnap the 2nd pledge, the pledge and his wife can be seen backing up into the side of their van but when the guys get out of the van the pledge and his wife are now seen standing a few feet away from their van.

Continuity: When Frank falls over the table after shooting himself with the dart gun, there is a straw hat on the chair. The hat sticks under his right arm. But in the next shot, it is away from his arm and visible in front of the camera.

Continuity: During the KY wrestling match, when Mitch is wrestling with the girl, the beer Frank's holding keeps switching hands.

Continuity: After Will Ferrell burns himself jumping through the fire hoop as the mascot, he is seen with a burnt red upper body. In the floor exercise shot and after, there is no redness on his shoulders.

Continuity: Right before the guys kidnap the 2nd pledge they are seen in their van driving towards a street corner with a traffic light but as they make the left hand turn into the parking lot, the street corner and the traffic light are gone.

Other: When everyone is chanting 'Frank the Tank' at Mitch's party, look at the bloke with the grey and yellow striped top on. He starts chanting too early, realises what he's done, then looks around and holds his breath until everyone else starts shouting.

Continuity: When Frank and the Dean of the university start rolling down the classroom stairs, they start off falling away from each other and then they are seen rolling down the stairs on top of each other.

Revealing: When Frank shoots himself with the trank gun you can see that he is wearing a prosthetic neck piece with the dart in it.

Other: In the movie, Beanie describes Blue as "an old Navy vet," (meaning Veteran) but in the German subtitles, Beanie describes Blue as a Marine Veterinarian (tierartzt). Funny.

Continuity: In the restaurant where Luke Wilson is telling the frat that they all have to participate in testing, Vince Vaughn pulls out his cash twice to pay for everyone.

Continuity: When the b.j. instructor gives Frank the black eye, Frank has a bandage on his neck where the dart will strike.

Revealing: The shot of Luke Wilson rushing through a corridor of an unnamed airport to catch a plane (the name of the town/airport is never mentioned)- they show him rushing down a corridor of the "airport" which is actually a corridor in the LA Convention Center - the sign showing "South Hall," "Kenetia Hall", etc. is visible in the background.

Revealing: When Frank shoots himself with the dart gun and he falls in the pool, you can see a weight belt through his blue robe.

Continuity: When Mitch arrives at his house to see he is being evicted, he steps over the caution tape and puts both hands inside his pants pockets. The camera angle changes and his hands are now seen at his sides as he walks up the steps.

Continuity: When Mitch is finished photocopying posters, he places the original white one on the bottom of the pile. In the next shot, it is on the top.

Continuity: At the end when Luke Wilson is moving out, there is a couch behind him in the U-Haul. It has boxes and a helmet on it. In the next shot, the couch has nothing on it.

Continuity: When Mitch's real estate buddy says that he knows about him and the boss's daughter, Mitch slaps him and points his right finger at him. In the next shot, it's his left finger that's pointing.

Continuity: As they kidnap the 2nd pledge the wife is seen holding a grocery bag with a box of cheese balls sticking out in the middle of the bag but when Frank takes the box from the bag it is now seen on the side of the bag and no longer sticking out above the bag.

Continuity: The door to Will Ferrell's Firebird is closed in a tight shot when his wife is talking to him. When they cut to a wider shot, the door is open.

Audio problem: When Will Ferrell breaks the glass with the hockey stick, the baby starts to cry, however you can see from the baby's face that it is not really crying.

Continuity: When the guys are pulling up to kidnap Blue, his walker is seen to the right of him, but as the guys get out of the van the walker is now directly in front of him.

Continuity: When Mitch gets his housewarming gift from Frank he's seen holding it upright, then he's seen holding it on its side when the camera angle changes.

Continuity: When Frank is announcing the main event the mic is seen at different distances from his mouth as the camera angle changes.

Continuity: When the frat throws Blue a KY wrestling match, they have several matches before it's Blue's turn. However, when they show Blue and the two girls in the kiddie pool, the pool looks like it has never been used - there is no KY on the sides. There is no way they could've cleaned it all up, and I doubt they had a separate pool lying around just for him.

Factual error: Even though it is a women's event, one would assume that the rythmic floor routine (performed by Frank with the ribbon) would still have been judged by the same scoring means. In which case, they wouldn't have passed since the ribbon touches Frank's body and the floor a number of times which causes point deductions each time that happens.

Revealing: When Frank and the Dean are falling down the stairs in the classroom, the stunt double for Frank has short brown hair with yellow highlights, which is quite noticeably not Frank's hair type.

Continuity: In the end the women with the tape comes and plays the recording that she had earlier taped when she talked to the Dean. They are missing some of the lines that he said in the scene she taped.
