Entry For the scene in which Jonathan drives a stake into Lucy's heart, Steven Weber's reactions to getting doused in blood are real. For this particular sequence, Mel Brooks did not tell him what was going to happen.
Entry In one scene, Van Helsing asks Dr. Seward if he has the book "Nosferatu." The film Nosferatu was the first adaptation of the Dracula novel.
Entry In the scene where Renfield arrives in the Transylvanian village, the archway which the carriage passes under is the same as in the film 'Young Frankenstein' which was also made by Mel Brooks. The only difference is the ivy covering the archway and the staircase.
Entry In the scene where Renfield arrives at Dracula's castle, it appears that the castle is identical to the castle in 'Young Frankenstein' which is also made by Mel Brooks.
