In the last scene, where Air Bud is substituted in for the injured goalie, the announcer specifically mentions that it's a women's soccer team. Air Bud may not have been kept off the team for being a dog, but Air Bud is not female. [Air Bud is no man. A woman's soccer team, at least in this instance, means it's a human female soccer team. But is not female, but is also not human. His exception to the rule goes beyond these limitations.]
