The Hudsucker Proxy

Set in the 1940's, Norville, a simple-minded low-level employee at Hudsucker Industries is promoted to power by an unscrupulous board of directors. He surprises them by coming up with the idea for the hula hoop and enjoys his fifteen minutes of fame as well as the attentions of Amy Archer, a woman reporter undercover as his secretary. Things turn sour, though, as Norville changes and becomes tarnished by power and less appealing to the public.

Continuity mistake: When Norville grabs Amy at the juice bar, there is a shot from behind Norville showing his noise maker is perpendicular to the bar. In the next shot, the noise maker is parallel to the bar. Later in the scene, the noise maker gets crushed under Amy's purse, and then reappears uncrushed next to her purse.
