Swimfan (2002) - 25 mistakes
Directed by John Polson, starring Clayne Crawford, Dan Hedaya, Erika Christensen, Jason Ritter, Jesse Bradford, Kate Burton, Kia Goodwin, Shiri Appleby
Continuity: In the scene where the main character is swimming and then bumps into Josh who is dead, in the shot under the water there is a lot of blood, but when the shot switches to above the water, there is no blood in the water, and when it switches back to below the water, there is a lot of blood again.
Continuity: In the scene when Ben and his girlfriend are in the diner where she works and they're talking at the bar, (the scene right before the one with Madison and Josh making out in the car), Ben's girlfriend tells him that she thinks he should leave. In the close-up of her, she has her head resting on her arms, which are crossed. Then the next shot, when Ben is walking toward the exit, she's sitting up straight. Then in the next close-up of her, her head is once again on her crossed arms.
Factual error: There is no way Ben would get his drug test results back the same day. High school athletes are also rarely even tested for drug use, this occurs mostly in Collegiate and Pro sports. Also, when athletes are tested, a witness of the same sex is always present. The urine is then sent to a lab for testing which can take at least a few days.
Continuity: After Ben nearly hits Madison, he gives her a ride home and she leaves her music notebook in his truck. When Ben is sitting in his room mulling over returning the book to her, the diminished amount of daylight coming into his room suggests that it is early evening approaching sunset. Yet, when he goes to her house to give her the notebook, the sun is shining brightly as if it were still afternoon.
Factual error: When Ben is in Madison's room he discovers the anabolic steroid that she gave to him. If one reads the label it says "for intramuscular or deep subcutaneous use" and "1000mcg/mL. This means that in order to give it to him she had to inject it using a syringe. If she injected it to him he would have felt it. Also it would have been a liquid anabolic steroid since its "1000mcg/mL, not pill therefore it would have been stored in a vial not in a plastic container.
Continuity: In the scene where Madison pushes Amy into the pool while handcuffed to a chair, the camera shows a close up of her handcuffs behind her back at the bottom of the pool. Amy's handcuffs were applied with the swinging jaws inward, towards her back. In a subsequent shot, Ben is picking the handcuffs to free her and the swinging jaws are facing outward.
