In Dumbledore's office at the end of the movie, the dialogue between Harry and Lucius Malfoy ("Let us hope that Mr. Potter will always be around to save the day"...) was improvised by Daniel Radcliffe and Jason Isaacs.
When Harry, Ron and Fang begin to walk through the Dark Forest there is a close-up of Fang walking towards the camera. At the start of the next shot, at the bottom right of the screen the Ford Anglia is visible. Although the scene of them seeing the car before it rescues them is deleted, this one shot remains of the car 'watching' them.
The first scenes in the movie are some of the last scenes filmed. Viewers kind of tell by the way the actors' voices and looks changed. For example, Matthew Lewis (who played Neville Longbottom) said that he had to stuff cotton balls in his cheeks in the "Mandrakes in the Greenhouse" scene, since he had lost so much weight since the beginning of filming.
In the scene where Harry and Malfoy are flying on their brooms, there's a shot where Colin takes a picture. Listen to the music right after that. The music is the same music used in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones during the chase scene on Coruscant (John Williams did the music for this film and all the Star Wars films).
There is an extra scene after the credits. You see the after affect of Lockharts backfire of the 'Obliviate' spell.
The part of young Moaning Myrtle is played by Shirley Henderson, who is a 37 year old woman.

In Philosopher's Stone (2001), Hagrid taps the bricks behind the Leaky Cauldron and as the bricks start to rearrange themselves creating the doorway, pause the film for the quick glance at the old green sign that reads, "Flourish & Blotts" which hangs over the corner bookstore. This is the bookstore in Chamber of Secrets that Harry and Hagrid pass on their way out of Knockturn Alley, but the old green sign obviously reads something else as it is not the setting for Flourish & Blotts in this film.
Christian Coulson landed the role as Tom Riddle, even though he was 23 at the time of filming, and exceeded the 15-17 age group set for auditions. Ironically, in 2007 when Coulson expressed an interest in returning for Half-Blood Prince, director David Yates declined, feeling that Coulson was "too old" to play the role again.
Moaning Myrtle is played by Shirley Henderson who was also in the movie "Bridget Jones' Diary" (2001). Henderson's first appearance in that film is her standing in a bathroom crying, also what Moaning Myrtle does in her part of the film.
Actor Hugh Grant was originally asked to play Gildroy Lockhart, but turned down the offer as he had already started working on another film.
In Asian releases of the film, the Chinese subtitles for 'Draco Malfoy' has a double meaning. It is pronounced as 'zhuai ge', which also means 'arrogant guy'.
A cinema manager in Norway said that the movie was making younger kids throw up in the theater. The reason was they were eating sweets and watching Ron burp up slugs at the same time.
There's been some discussion whether Lucius Malfoy starts saying "Avada-" or "Vera-" after Harry freed Dobby. It's not so easy to decide in the English version, although the DVD subtitles say "Vera-". In the German version, it's a lot easier, he says "Avada-" without any doubt. So it seems either the translators did not read the original script, or Malfoy does say "Avada-" in the English version (and they tried to cover it up for some reason by using a different subtitle). For those who have not read past book three, "Avada" is the first part of the spell "Avada Kedavra", a powerful killing spell that is highly illegal in the wizarding world. This is why this piece of trivia is important - many fans are perplexed as to why dear Lucius was performing such a spell directly outside Dumbledore's office.
The reason Susan Bones is in so many scenes with the Gryffindors, although she was sorted into Hufflepuff, is because the actress is Eleanor Columbus, the daughter of director Chris Columbus. Two of his other children are also in the movie.
As Harry enters Prof. Dumbledore's study, a portrait of Gandalf the Grey (from "The Lord of the Rings" books) is included in the collection of the great wizard paintings. It is above the door frame and slightly to Harry's right.
Though very obvious to British users of this site, it is most likely not as well known in the US. Fawkes the phoenix is most likely named for Guy Fawkes (1570-1606), a Catholic conspirator who tried to kill King James I and blow up Parliament in 1605 (the Gunpowder Plot) to avenge persecution of Roman Catholics in England. His plan failed, and he was arrested, tried, and executed. November 5th is Guy Fawkes night/bonfire night, when the failure of his plan is celebrated with fireworks and bonfires - the fires often have a "guy" on top of them, a stuffed dummy.
When Harry uses the Floo powder and ends up in Knockturn Ally, the first thing he looks at is a necklace. If you read the 6th book( you will know that Katie Bell (a Gryffindor) touches a necklace from Knockturn Ally. The same one from this movie.
All of the scenes that included Richard Harris were done first because of his failing health (he eventually died from Hodgkin's disease on October 25, 2002 after filming was completed). The scene where Dumbledore and Harry are in his office at the end of the movie was done first because he had the most dialogue here (notice how young Harry looks in this scene).
As Hagrid and Harry are walking away from Knockturn Alley, look closely in one of the shop windows in the background - there's the entire set of the Harry Potter books.
At the end of the scene where Dobby visits Harry in the hospital wing, Dumbeldore mentions the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets. As the scene fades, it goes straight to the girl's bathroom sink (the entrance to the chamber, we later find out).
In the book, there is a minor side plot where Percy was hiding the fact that he had a Ravenclaw girlfriend named Penelope Clearwater, who was also attacked at the same time Hermione was. She is largely out of the movie, but in one scene, Nearly Headless Nick says hello to Percy and 'Miss Clearwater' walking side by side.
As Harry looks at the album at the start of the film, he turns the page of wax paper, between the pages of photos and the imprint on the wax paper is clearly visible. The imprint is that of many spider webs on the thin page of wax paper. It is best seen frame by frame.
