Minority Report
Minority Report mistake picture

Continuity mistake: At the start of the movie, two wooden balls are created to name the next victim and killer. After the balls are created, they are dull and unpolished, but their travel through the tubes shows them to now be highly polished and shiny. (00:01:55)

Suggested correction: After being created they are encased before going down the tube and unseen. They could have easily been polished during this time before then rolling down the tube.

Other mistake: The name on the red ball at the beginning has the name 'Donald Dubin' on it. But in the end credits, it is spelled 'Donald Doobin'. (00:02:10 - 02:17:40)

Continuity mistake: When Anderton enters the "ball-room" for the first time in the movie, a guy behind grabs a folder and presses it against his chest. In the next shot he is repeating the movement again. (00:03:35)

Sacha

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film when Howard Marks goes out for the paper, he walks down his steps outside and reaches the bottom, twice. (00:04:10)

The-Immortal

Minority Report mistake picture

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film when Anderton and Danny Witwer first meet, in one shot Danny Witwer is standing about six foot away, in the following shot he is really close to Anderton. (00:06:50)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: When Fletcher is explaining to Witwer about John scrubbing the images for clues for the Marks murder, Jad puts his hand up to his chin, but in the next shot his hand is down. (00:07:25)

Other mistake: When Anderton and the pre-cops are gearing up to prevent the Howard Marks murder, there is a shot of Anderton loading his gun. If you watch closely you can see he places a clip under the gun but doesn't actually put it in, he just sort of mimes inserting it. (00:08:55)

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film, when Anderton and the crew go up on the rising platform, you can see a guy approach the platform, and in the following shot he is approaching the platform again. (00:09:15)

Continuity mistake: During the scene where the police first go to arrest Howard and John is deciding which door is the right one his plastic face plate is down and in the next shot it is clearly up. (00:10:55)

Minority Report mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When John and the other precrime agents go to arrest Howard Marks, they stand in a group trying to figure out which house is the right one. A couple of shots later there's a wide shot of John from behind with nobody else there, and a couple of shots later still, the agents are all in a group again. (00:11:00)

Madstunts

Continuity mistake: In the beginning, when Anderton arrests the jealous husband, he notes that he is being arrested on April 22 - that day - for the future murder of his wife and her lover. Later, while Anderton is jogging, we see billboards advocating a "Yes" vote on pre-crime on April 22. The next day, Anderton's boss Lamar notes that the vote is in a week, which would make it April 15, making the day that the jealous husband was arrested April 14, not April 22. (00:13:05 - 00:15:15)

Continuity mistake: When John is in the Precog chamber, and Agatha grabs him, he is on the small platform, but when Wally comes in, he is no longer on the small platform. (00:27:15 - 00:28:05)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the movie, Anderton is working on the case with the jealous husband (case number 1108). During this scene, we see a shot of Anderton taken from behind the transparent screen. In the upper right corner of the screen you can see the case number (1108). Later in the movie, Anderton starts working on the case where he himself turns out to be the killer. This is case number 1109. In this scene we again see a shot of Anderton taken from behind the transparent screen. However, the case number is still 1108. Shouldn't it be 1109, since he is working on that case? (00:36:30 - 00:37:50)

Continuity mistake: In the scene when Anderton escapes out of the Maglev Car, we see him jump into a room full of gymnasts. He is on the floor with his legs up in the air, then we see him lower his legs. Yet, in the next shot his legs are back in the air again and we see his legs go down again. (00:43:10)

Factual error: In the scene when Anderton escapes out of the Maglev Car, there's barely any wind blowing his hair or jacket, even though the car is moving at intense speeds and he can barely keep his balance. He jumps from car to car on a vertical track, jacket is not moving. Then he jumps on to the roof of another car and you him from the inside of the car, there's no wind movement on him at all. (00:43:55 - 00:44:55)

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie the date is stated as 2054. However, when Anderton has been identified on the metro and data appears on a clear screen, the date he went missing is listed as December 12, 2055. (00:45:10)

Continuity mistake: When John runs into the alley he runs past a slightly burnt out car, but in the following shots the car is on the opposite side of the alley. (00:45:55)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: In the alley scene where the rest of John's team comes, he keeps repeating "everybody runs" and they surround him. After a dog barks at them he climbs up a fire escape. In one shot you can see the back of his jacket is cut and wires are sticking out. It's a very quick shot but it's there. (00:47:10)

Factual error: When Anderton jumps on the back of the jet packed cop, the thrust can sizzle burgers a foot away, but nothing happens to Anderton's jacket or shoes or anything. Even if he is hanging onto him on the side, he's still close enough. And how come the cops themselves don't get scorched by their own pack? I can believe them using asbestos pants in the uniform, but not Anderton's civvies. (00:47:55)

Minority Report mistake picture

Continuity mistake: In the Jetpack scene, where John and the other two cops bump the ceiling, if you look at their food and drinks on the table, everything gets knocked over and spilt, yet in the following shot everything is neat, and the drinks have reappeared unspilt. (00:49:00)

The-Immortal

Iris Hineman: If the unintended consequences of a series of genetic mistakes and science gone haywire can be called 'invention', then yes, I invented Precrime. (00:57:50)

Question: Why all the build up of John having sent the Russian eye-surgeon guy to jail, suggesting that he will hurt John; only to have him successfully complete the operation, and take care of John afterwards?

Nick N.

Chosen answer: It's what's known as a McGuffin; a plot element that seems to be important when introduced, but serves no purpose other than to intrigue/distract the audience. The term was popularised by Alfred Hitchcock.

J I Cohen

That's not *quite* what a MacGuffin is. A MacGuffin not only seems important, it *is* important; in fact, one of its two diagnostic characteristics is that a MacGuffin is something around which the entire plot revolves. The other property fundamental to what makes something a MacGuffin is the fact that the origin, purpose, function, and, in some cases, even identity of the object is left either vague or completely undefined. The briefcase in Pulp Fiction is a classic example (although there *is* a compelling argument that the object in the briefcase is in fact a specific artifact).

Well, according to the doctor when the operation is beginning, the doctor reveals that in prison, he spent all of his time in the library, including books on medicine and technology. As a result, he found his "true calling", and is thankful to John for helping him see that.
