The Care Bears Movie (1985) - 24 mistakes

Revealing: In the scene where the evil spell takes over the tree in the Forest of Feelings, Tenderheart Lion has his symbol on his belly in the shot as Swift Heart rabbit is coming to the rescue. Even though they don't get their symbols until the end of the movie.

Plot hole: After the quake hits Care-a-lot and everything becomes cracked and tarnished, one of the bears comes running over exclaiming that the Care Meter has dropped "two whole points!" and points to the meter. However, the meter doesn't drop until after the line is said.

Continuity: When Tenderheart first picks up the key to the book, we see that it has no teeth, it's just a smooth piece of metal. Later in the movie, when Tenderheart gives the key to Jason for safe keeping, we see that it now has teeth.

Continuity: As the Care Bears "stare" at the evil spirit bird, Friend Bear can be seen on the Cloud Boat and the cliff at the same time!

Continuity: When the Care Bears boat begins to be pulled into the whirlpool, made by the evil spirit fish, one of the bears grabs a rope and sends a special star into the sky to help them, attached to the rope. The bear then picks the end of the rope up, and begins to tie it to the mast. In the next shot you can see the end of the rope still laying on the floor again, unattatched to the mast, the in the next shot it's back on the mast again.

Continuity: When Nicholas first puts the key inside the evil spell book to unleash it, he inserts it vertically, parallel to the keyhole. In the next shot it's suddenly positioned horizontally, and he then turns it vertically to open it.

Continuity: When the Care Bears and Cousins are in the boat sailing down the river, just before they enter the cave the Care Bear steering the boat does not have a symbol on his tummy.

Continuity: When the driver delivers the treasure chest to Nicholas' magician cart, he throws a cigar down to the floor and leaves. In the next shot as Nicholas heaves the chest inside, the cigar has suddenly vanished from the floor.

Continuity: After the Care Bears and Cousins and Kim and Jason finally lock up the evil book, everyone cheers. In the shot of the Bears cheering, we see Good Luck Bear, wearing nothing, cheering. In the next shot he has his yellow raincoat back on.

Continuity: During the song "Home is In the Heart," when they dance around the pole tying the ribbons and then slide down the rainbow, Tenderheart Bear is now Friend Bear in this scene, for a temporary time.

Continuity: During "Home is in the Heart" after we meet the Care Bear Cousins we see everyone weaving yellow and red ribbons around a pole. Then the camera cuts to a more distant view of them sliding down some clouds away from the finished pole. The trouble is, the yellow and red color scheme we saw on the pole a minute ago is now a multi-colored rainbow scheme.

Continuity: When the magician is sitting at his desk, stacking cards into a pyramid, in some shots, some of the cards facing outwards, show the front side of the card. However in the next shot, these cards are now showing the back (red) side of the card.

Other: During the climactic moment when they're defeating the book, Jason shoves the key into the lock, sealing the evil within. However, he shoves the key into the lock upside down.

Continuity: During the song "Home in in the Heart," Nicholas draws a house in the dirt, with a branch. In the first shot the drawing has no roof. In the next shot it suddenly does, and some of the drawn lines disappear as well.

Continuity: When Kim and Jason first arrive in Care-A-Lot and they are still standing on the rainbow rescue platform, with Secret Bear and Friendship Bear. One shot shows Sunshine Bear standing next to Jason, instead of Friendship Bear, then in the very next shot Sunshine Bear is now right in front of Jason, talking to him.

Continuity: At the end, when the Care Bears and Cousins are sitting around the table, a Care Bear whispers into the raccoon's ear and the Care Bear does not have a symbol on his tummy.

Continuity: When Nicholas is making the evil potion, he is about to put his shoe with gum on it, inside the cauldron. He hesitates, so the evil book forces the shoe to be thrown into the pot. However in the next shot Nicholas has two shoes back on his feet.

Revealing: When Tenderheart Bear confronts Nicholas in the Cave, the light of fire Nicholas has lit casts a shadow of Tenderheart Bear on the wall of the cave. However, when Tenderheart Bear moves his arms, the shadow stays the same.

Continuity: During the movie, the small red hearts on the Care Bears sides disappear and then reappear again between shots. This is most noticeable when Secret Bear and Friend Bear meet Kim and Jason in the park at the beginning.

Factual error: The word 'magician' is spelled 'magicinan' on the cart when Nicholas bends down to collect the spiders web.

Continuity: In the shot where Kim and Jason slide down the rainbow with the Care Bears during the "Nobody Cares Like A Bear" song, Tenderheart is also on the rainbow. Tenderheart is actually on Earth trying to save Nicholas from the Evil Spirit at that very moment.

Continuity: In the song "It's Great to Be in the Care Bear Family," the Care Bear Cousins finally obtain their tummy symbols. However in a following shot Playful Heart Monkey is drawn without a symbol, even though he had only just obtained it.

Continuity: When the boat is caught in whirlpool and is being pulled down, there is a shot of the penguin and a bear holding on to the helm. The penguin has symbol on his tummy (which he doesn't get until the end of the movie).

Continuity: In the scene where the evil spell takes over the tree in the Forest of Feelings, Swift Heart Rabbit bites though the branches of the trees to free the Care Bears. The second Care Bear is a light orange colour, but when Tenderheart Lion catches him he is pink.
