Visible crew/equipment: A stock car carrying Mel Tillis and Terry Bradshaw drove into a hotel swimming pool. If you watch the car as it drives into the pool, you'll see the jump ramp built at the end of the pool.
Continuity mistake: When the two Lamborghini ladies are stopped by the police the first time, you first see the lady in the red dress from the front. Her zip is obviously up. In the next shot you see the other race participants raging by. The lady is shown from behind now. When you see her from the front again, the zip is down. Now we can see her from behind, and as we see her from the front again the zip is up again. Then she puts it down again to show the sheriff her driver's licence.
Continuity mistake: The stock car that Mel Tillis and Terry Bradshaw jump into the pool and tune up outside the meeting is a Chevy Laguna, yet when they punch the clock at the start of the race, it's a Monte Carlo.
Continuity mistake: We can see Sammy Davis Jr. as he slits Burt Reynold's car´s tires. Later we can hear Reynolds as he says that they lost more than 2 hours by fixing the damage. But how comes that at the petrol station, Reynold´s car leaves even before Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin arrive there?
Other mistake: Towards the beginning of the film JJ (Burt Reynolds) lands his plane in a town to get more beer. You can clearly see the a large crowd of spectators in the background standing behind the wooden barriers which the police had set up for the filming.
Continuity mistake: Bert Convy's character is wearing a Goodyear ballcap and is riding his motorcycle down the motel corridor. He crashes into the Cannonball Pub, he is now wearing a helmet. As he launches himself over the stairs in the motel lobby, he is back wearing the Goodyear hat.
Continuity mistake: When Mad Dog pulls up to the starting line, we see Batman get out to punch the time card in the clock. We then see a brief shot of Mr. Foyt's car, but the car at the starting line is a Camaro, not Mad Dog's pickup.
Continuity mistake: JJ and Victor's ambulance's engine sounds are dubbed, and a few times you can hear the sound of shifting a manual transmission when the ambulance is shown to have an automatic.
