Braindead has been recorded as the bloodiest film ever, literally. About 600 gallons of fake blood was used during the production.
This movie is actually known by two names. In the UK it is named "Braindead", in the US it is named "Dead-Alive".
Director Peter Jackson makes a cameo appearance as the Mortuary Director's Assistant when Lionel's mom is being filled with embalming fluid. Whilst the fluid gushes out of Mum, Jackson grabs the sandwich he left beside the corpse and takes a bite. Doesn't he look odd without his beard?
Just something to notice about Peter Jacksons cameo: He eats the sandwich and it's covered with embalming fluid. Gross point in a gross, yet pretty cool, movie.
The actress who plays Lionel's mother shows up in the extended version of "The Fellowship of the Ring"--she plays Lobellia Sackville-Baggins, whom Bilbo hides from at the "long-expected party."
At the funeral, when the priest is talking to Pequita, the organ music in the background is "Midnight Suite" from an earlier Peter Jackson movie, "Meet the Feebles".
The woman in the park who is pushing her baby back and forth in the stroller is Frances Walsh, one of the writers.
