Bad Taste (1987) - 69 mistakes

Visible crew/equipment: When the guy falls off the cliff and splats on the rocks below, if you watch it in slow motion, you can just see an orange bucket appear for a few moments which chucks the blood in the air.

Visible crew/equipment: When the camera pans alongside the blue van, which is shaking, because Derek is spasming on the ground you can see some sort of dolly or camera with small wheels being pushed along.

Continuity: The way that Derek's scarf is tied, and the position of it, and the way it hangs etc., changes between various shots throughout the movie. One good example is when he pulls the gun out of the stupid alien's body.

Continuity: When Barry is getting followed across the beach by the guy, Barry shoots him once and blood falls on to the floor, and also on to Barry's face. He shoots the guy a second time in the head, and the view is from behind as the guys head explodes. If you look at Barry during this shot, you'll see his face is clean of any blood once there, but then it returns in the next shot.

Continuity: When the guys are in the forest clearing, getting guns from the car boot and changing their clothes, Frank says "Don’t you forget Oz..." and he takes his white jacket off while he is speaking. But in the following shot Frank's jacket is now back on him again, zipped all the way up.

Continuity: The slats in the rear window of Frank‘s car disappear and reappear.

Visible crew/equipment: When Derek hits the alien with the blue van, splitting him in two, you can see the silver bar which the dummy is mounted on.

Continuity: In the scene where the guys are getting the weapons from the car, in the forest clearing, the ground surrounding the parked car changes through the scene. At first, it is brown dirt with branches and twigs everywhere. By the end of the scene, when they exclaim "the bastards have landed," the ground is now covered with lush green grass.

Continuity: When the chef swipes the knife, he hits another alien in the chest cutting him vertically. The cut is obviously not that long or deep, however in the next shot the alien is slashed right across his chest very deeply.

Visible crew/equipment: When the collector, and the guys are standing on the stairs trying to escape, an alien walks down the hallway, and then a shot from over the banister swings to follow him. You can clearly see two red shoes and legs wearing jeans, standing by the banister - obviously the camera operator.

Visible crew/equipment: After Ozzy and Frank put the "Road Closed" sign up, the shot widens to follow the car, and the camera pans upward to reveal the "Kaihoro" road sign. On the floor beside the signpost, as the camera pans up, is an aluminum camera box and a Sennheiser microphone.

Continuity: On the cliff, Robert jumps out and grabs Derek. Robert punching Derek square in the chest is shown between two different angled shots. In the first shot, as Robert pulls his clenched fist backwards, Derek’s scarf has disappeared.

Continuity: During the shootout in the gardens, Frank is standing by a large green plant, which is in the middle of the gardens, with grounds, plants and paths behind it. In the next shot as he runs to the next plant, running behind the previous plant is a small wooden fence, which has suddenly appeared.

Revealing: When Derek falls and is rolling down the cliff, it is a very clear dummy. It's legs and arms are in a stiff seated position.

Continuity: In the car on the collectors passenger seat there's a pile of collection bags, and a heavy machete resting atop. However in the shot where he pushes the handbrake down, you can see the passenger seat has nothing on it.

Continuity: Robert drops a machete on the collectors lap when he has his hand trapped in the window, and the collector tosses it onto the passenger seat. in the following shot where he says "bye-bye," the machete is now repositioned.

Continuity: When Frank nearly gets chopped by an axe-wielding alien, he grabs a knife lying near the chef (who is wearing a striped shirt) but when he finally gets the knife and swinging it upwards, the chef has now suddenly vanished.

Visible crew/equipment: When the blood from the alien is pouring over Derek, some crew members are visible in Derek's glasses.

Visible crew/equipment: There are many long wires clearly trailed across the lawns when Frank and the guys are shooting the aliens, to set off the squibs.

Visible crew/equipment: During the vomit-eating scene the camera pans over the staircase and the cameraman casts a shadow over the banister.

Visible crew/equipment: When the alien with the sledgehammer in his head falls to the floor in a shot from behind, you can see a black pad he's wearing, and a white hose which is running up his shirt, used to pump the blood.

Continuity: When Robert jumps out in surprise and grabs Derek, as Derek tries to keep his balance on the cliff, there is a big brown bush behind him which wasn’t there before.

Visible crew/equipment: When the aliens get into Frank's car, when the alien shuts the door you can see the reflection of a crewmember's legs, which are wearing red trousers.

Visible crew/equipment: When the aliens chase the gang through the forest, the gang climb into the car. The aliens then shoot at the car, and then the gang drives away. As they drive forward onto the path, you can see a big pile of equipment, bags and other objects, and a camera set up across the road.

Continuity: Frank's collar alternates from up/down in the vomit eating scene.

Audio problem: When Lord Crumb says "Once the Fast Food authorities have checked the samples..." his mouth movements are way out of sync with the audio.

Continuity: When the guys are in the room eavesdropping on what the alien leader has to say, one alien holding a glass bowl walks in on them. In this shot, Frank's wolleen hat is off. Then in the shot when Frank punches the alien, it has reappeared back on his head. Cut back and it has gone again.

Continuity: When Derek hits the alien with his blue van, splitting him in two, you can clearly see that no blood gets on the windshield. Yet in a following closeup the windshield wipers are clearing a lot of blood from it.

Revealing: When the chef swipes the knife, he hits another alien in the chest cutting him vertically. There is already a cut/rip in his shirt, where the chef rips.

Continuity: Frank walks along the lawn and is standing on a patch of grass covered in brown leaves, when suddenly he gets fired at, so he leaps up (and then rolls to the floor) from green grass, with no leaves at his feet at all.

Continuity: Through the vomit eating scene, there is vomit sliding and spilling down the outside of the glass bowl in some shots, but it is clean in others.

Visible crew/equipment: When Derek sits up after pushing the back of his head which had split open back up, crew is reflected in his glasses.

Continuity: The whole road and the roadside shrubs and bushes completely change between shots, after Robert pulls the bumper from the car off.

Visible crew/equipment: In one shot where the camera is following alongside Robert with his hand stuck in the window, who is now running alongside the driving car, you can see, in the reflection of the collectors car windows, the top of the black car which is driving alongside, filming the shot.

Continuity: When the collector has got Robert’s hand trapped in the window, he drives off, and his car’s front license plate is missing, yet is back in the very next shot.

Visible crew/equipment: When the Collector is in his car trying to get his window up, there is one shot of him outside of the car trying to get the window up. If you look in the reflection of his car you can see a camera being held.

Continuity: When we see Derek land on the rock after taking the fall down the cliff, behind the rock he landed on there is grassy hills and then some big rocks. Later when they say birds were the only thing he can relate to, it shows a shot of Derek covered in gulls, but now the huge rocks in the background scenery have gone, and in addition, the position of his legs have changed too.

Continuity: As he rolls down the cliff, one of Derek’s shoe fall off, but they’re both back on when we see him land on the rock.

Visible crew/equipment: When Derek plunges down the cliff, he lands on a rock, but if you watch carefully it‘s very apparent that two hands belonging to a crewmember throw a pair of fake legs over the rock.

Continuity: In close-ups, the gun that drops from Barry’s pocket is sitting on a piece of wall plaster that fell off when he got attacked by the aliens in the shed. However the gun isn’t there in any wide shots.

Visible crew/equipment: When the collector is checking his map, you can see a crewmember reflected in the small window and the shiny sliver window edge.

Continuity: As Barry puts the body of the alien into the grass, his right shoe is clearly visible with no blood on it. In the next shot though, he says he should ring his strides out, we then see his right shoe covered in blood.

Revealing: Derek skids to a stop (on a road which is covered in gravel) - you can see a set of white tire tracks (kind of white skidmarks in the gravel, if you know what I mean) in the exact same place where he screeches to a stop. Multiple takes anyone?

Revealing: When Derek awakes on the rock, he obviously headbashes a gull made of wood. It is very fake, may be deliberate (This could be a "deliberate revealing."), but is a mistake nonetheless.

Visible crew/equipment: In a wide side shot of Derek driving the blue van thingy, you can see the front roof frame of the car reflected in the back window, which is driving along with it, filming this part of the film.

Continuity: When Derek is holding onto the rope at the cliffs, we see the alien cut the rope. Later we see Derek holding onto the rope again.

Audio problem: When Barry realizes he is out of bullets, he runs away. It cuts to the aliens running after him. You can see one of the aliens fire at him, but you can't hear any gunshot.

Continuity: When all the aliens are eating from the bowl of vomit, one of the aliens has vomit around his mouth before eating from the bowl.

Continuity: When Derek shoots a hole through an alien, the alien falls over him almost going to the ground. When it cuts, the alien's head is side by side with Derek's head.

Audio problem: When the camera is filming Barry from behind, he is talking about the alien and says "He must have been going somewhere". You can see his mouth isn't moving.

Visible crew/equipment: When Frank is listening to the alien leader and realizes the entire town is stuffed into the boxes, he goes back to the rest of the guys. When he closes the door, the shadow of the camera man is visible on the door. Shadows from crew members are visible in this same room several times.

Continuity: When Robert manages to free himself from the collector's car, he keeps running after the car. He grabs the bumper which falls off. Robert falls to the ground beside the bumper. When it cuts, he has moved away from the bumper.

Revealing: When the collector gets into his car, he tries to close the car window. Robert puts his hand through the window. The collector manages to close it well enough to trap Robert's hand and takes off in his car. From a camera view outside the car, you can see the window isn't closed enough for Robert's hand to be trapped.

Continuity: In the vomit section: when they take the bucket to the boss, there are pieces of food on the top of vomit although they weren't there when they toke the bucket off, and the amount of vomit seems to be always the same when they drink it.

Continuity: When blood is splattered on Derek´s glasses from the alien hanging in the rope, he turns away and in the next scene the blood is gone.

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Derek pulls the large knife out of the alien's foot and gets blood on his face he stands up and almost falls of the cliff. To the left in this shot you can plainly see a crewmember in a dark blue shirt, probably there to jump in if an accident should happen.

Continuity: In the start of the film you see "the boys" driving in their car talking on a C.B. to another man in the group they are meeting. If you notice the one doing the talking spends most of the time with the CB backwards using the mounting notch by his face, but when the scene switches from inside the car to outside it is turned around the correct way.

Visible crew/equipment: When Robert is looking at the inside of the collectors car, before he smashes it with a rock, reflected in the window (from the inside) is a man holding equipment, and a camera

Continuity: The water/rocks around Barry after killing the alien to when it cuts to Derek through his binoculars seem to change.

Visible crew/equipment: When Barry shoots the alien following him, he hit’s the axe head twice. Both times you can see a wire running up to the axe, probably to set of the shots.

Revealing: When Barry has shot the alien in the head at the beach the camera is filming the aliens feet as the blood starts dripping. Then the camera start moving up and when the camera reach the alien's waist level you can see a sudden cut. This is done so the fake alien puppy with half its head gone can be used.

Continuity: When Derek is lying on the ground by his car, his scarf is tied down to his crotch. When it cuts, it's tied down to his chest.

Revealing: When Derek is about to run over the alien with the machine gun, the alien drops the magazine from the machine gun. You can see he is lifting his little finger revealing that he intentionally drops the magazine.

Continuity: When the collector gets hit in the head by the chef, he falls and slides down the stairs. He slides down about five steps, but when it cuts, it's only two steps.

Continuity: In one shot as Frank is lying on his back, shooting, there are loads of leaves on the ground all around him, which suddenly disappear between shots.

Continuity: In one shot as Frank is lying on his back, shooting, his socks change from yellow and black stripes, to plain blue socks.

Revealing: After Derek lifts up the carpet in the blue van after running over an alien, he punches in a code on what looks like a code entry panel to grab the chainsaw. Upon closer inspection, he's actually entering the code into a calculator.

Continuity: When the house is pulling the green sheet inwards, Frank is crawling away trying to get off it. In one shot he is crawling and there’s planks and bits of wood scattered around and under him, but none in the next shot.

Revealing: When Derek kicks the alien which has been cut in half, you can see the ground beneath the alien move making it obvious the lower part of the alien is buried in the ground.
