A Walk To Remember (2002) - 33 mistakes

Audio problem: When Jamie is looking through the telescope Landon built for her, the second time she says, "Come here. Come look. Quick," is looped because her lips are hardly moving.

Continuity: When Landon goes to visit Clay in the rehab center, as he's walking in it's a bright sunny day. But once he enters the room, the weather through the window is dark and dreary.

Revealing: During the play where Sally walks out on Landon's character in the club, you can see Mandy eyeing Shane and smiling under her hood as if they weren't filming anymore.

Revealing: The makeup artists tried to make Mandy Moore (Jamie) paler for the movie, but they neglected everything but her face. In the star registry scene, notice how tan Jamie's legs are compared to her face. In the scene where she is sleeping on Landon's shoulder, you can see how tan her shoulder is compared to her face where as Landon pulls her sweater back over her shoulder.

Continuity: After the first tutoring session as the students are going home on the bus, you can see the bus is driving in a residential neighborhood. After Jamie walks away from Landon, you can see the bus from an aerial view with trees on both sides and not a house in sight.

Continuity: In the scene were Mandy is singing "Only Hope", if you watch both shots of her face when the camera is transitioning between shots, you can see that she closes and opens her eyes at different times. Her face movements are also different throughout the scene when the camera angles change.

Continuity: When Jamie and Landon first go to the graveyard to look at the stars, Jamie's face is pale. In the next shot she has makeup on.

Continuity: When Jamie is singing in the play, her hair is down and goes from all/most of it over her shoulder to all behind her shoulders. This switches on and off.

Continuity: At the beginning when the kids go to the plant to jump into the water, as they walk away from the cars, the lights on the Camaro are on. When they run back, they are off.

Continuity: In the scene after the play when Landon's father tries to talk to him, a man walks past them in a green shirt. In the next shot, the same man walks down the stairs behind Landon and his dad in the same green shirt.

Continuity: When Mandy Moore is singing in the play, the clasp on her necklace keeps moving - in one shot, it's visible, in the next it's not, then it's near her collarbone... all over the place!

Continuity: After Landon gives Jamie the pink sweater, he talks to his mother while she rips up a piece of lettuce for a salad. In one part, she starts to tear up a big piece, and when she is around halfway done, the scene cuts to in front of Landon and she is just throwing the last bits in.

Plot hole: When Landon tells Jamie "In your dreams", as he and his friends are walking off, Landon and his ex-girlfriend are walking arm in arm to class. This is after Belinda invites Landon into her house and he tells her that its over. In the commentary with the actors and director, Shane West says that he and Belinda thought the cameras were off.

Continuity: When Jamie goes to the graveyard, Landon gets out of the car to catch up to her. When he catches her by surprise, her ponytail stays behind her back. When they show her again, Jamie's ponytail is draped over her shoulders. When they show her one final time, it's behind her back again.

Continuity: When Landon walks up to Jamie and asks for help, Jamie closes her locker but doesn't lock it, yet the lock is firmly in place when they walk away.

Continuity: During the play, Mandy begins to sing the song "Only Hope", and sits down at the table beside Sean West. You can clearly see a small layer of her hair hanging in front of her right eye. A moment later, when the camera angle switches from the back of her head, to her face again, the piece of her hair is gone.

Continuity: When Landon and Jamie are at school, Landon walks past a table and he is wearing a tech vest. When he walks towards Jamie he's wearing a different shirt.

Continuity: When Belinda says "nice sweater" to Jamie, Jamie has a backpack on and when all of Landon`s friends are laughing it shows Jamie walking away and she doesn't have a backpack on.

Continuity: During the scene when Jamie is humiliated in the cafeteria with the flyers, the flyer that Landon holds up has a girl with a bathing suit and Jamie's head. But the flyers on the table show the girl completely naked with Jamie's head on it. On the DVD commentary with Shane West, Mandy Moore, and the director, they say that they had to CG a bikini on the one picture because of the rating of the movie.

Other: On Landon and Jamie's first date, they are dancing. When the camera backs away and is going to go onto the next scene, you can see that Landon and Jamie are standing there, barely moving, and laughing. Mandy Moore confirmed later that they were wondering whether the scene was over or not and wondering whether they could stop dancing.

Continuity: When Landon and Jamie are looking at the stars together, and he tells her he had a star named for her. A couple of seconds later she takes the paper showing the coordinates of the star and starts to sit down. The camera angle changes and shows her still in motion to sit down, but now the paper is nowhere to be seen.

Continuity: When Landon goes to visit Clay in the rehabilitation center he's wearing a tan shirt as he's walking inside. Once he's inside, he has on a blue striped shirt.

Continuity: The day after Landon and Jamie are practicing for the play, Landon meets up with his friends and is questioned, "Is everything okay?" Notice the outfits everyone in the group is wearing. Each person is wearing the very same clothes that are worn weeks later, when they are making the poster of Jamie. Though people realistically wear outfits over and over, here each person wears the same outfit on the same day.

Continuity: When Landon drives Belinda home, his scar on his forehead is gone, but the next shot when he is waking up, it's there.

Continuity: At one point in the movie, Landon looks for Jamie and finds her at the cafeteria reading a book. He says, "Jamie, I'm trying really hard here", she then gets up and walks away towards the door, notice that her shoes are black. Immediately after that he follows her outside and catches her walking out the main door, her shoes are now white.

Continuity: When Landon's ex-girlfriend comes to his house to give him the pictures from the school play, her hair is in a ponytail. From the back you can see that all her hair is in the ponytail, but when they show her talking from the front, you see a piece of her hair hanging down. They switch back and forth between the front and back shots, so it's easy to catch.

Continuity: When Jamie is singing in the school play, her solid close-up and her bleed through close-up do not correspond. The solid image blinks but the bleed through does not and vice versa a few seconds later. Obviously, this was two different takes that were super-imposed together that, unfortunately, did not fully correspond with each other.

Continuity: In the scene after Landon gets in the car crash and he is at home, when he walks into the kitchen he is wearing a long sleeve shirt. In one shot his sleeves are all the way down and in the next shot when he sits down at the table his sleeves are pushed up. Between the two shots he would not have had enough time to push them up.

Continuity: In the scene right after the beginning credits roll, and Shane West is going to sit down at the kitchen table, there isn't any food, but later, while he is talking to his mother, he is eating, even though there isn't any food.

Continuity: When Jamie goes to see Landon after she has told him she is sick, he holds her head in his hands and then moves them down to giver her a hug. In the next shot his hands are back up on her head and move down once again.

Audio problem: At the very beginning of the movie when the group is standing around their cars, Tracie calls the guys "animals," but if you watch her lips, you can see her say "assholes." When you watch the movie with the 'Adam Shankman/Mandy Moore/Shane West' commentary on, you will find that they had to change things around a bit, in order to fit the rating. Thus, the reason behind overwriting her original words.

Other: In the rehearsal scene, you can clearly see as the camera moves back that Jamie is cracking up as Miss Garber is demonstrating how to walk.

Continuity: When Jamie is singing "Only Hope," the pianist's fingers do not match the actual music.
