Continuity mistake: When Jessie sits on the ground after being hit by the baseball you see him about to get up. Then Schneider approaches him and when it cuts you see Jessie sitting still. (00:08:50)
Factual error: During the baseball game in the beginning if you look in the background you can see several palm trees in the background. The movie takes place in Ohio where there are no palm trees. (00:09:15 - 00:10:05)
Suggested correction: Ohio is never specified as the state where the Nightmare movies take place until later in the series. As long as the state is unspecified as it is in Nightmare 2 and 1, visible palm trees are not a mistake.
All the films are supposed to take place in the same city. So if part 6 takes place in Springwood, Ohio, than so does this one.
While it would be true that the location in all previous films are now Ohio, it's hard to say if it's a mistake for the first 5 films, especially if there's no evidence for it being set in Ohio and evidence points to California. It would be more appropriate to make an entry in the 6th film saying the Ohio location contradicts what has been already seen. Otherwise, you would have to make a mistake entry every time the first 5 films reveal it's not set in Ohio, but filmed in California.
Suggested correction: Per the screenplays, the first two movies take place in Los Angeles.
I believe it was Wes Craven's intention to mention it's set in Los Angeles, but the actual script and film never state where Elm Street is located. It was an un-named suburb.
Audio problem: When Jesse and Ron are doing press-ups on the sports field, Ron says "So what about you and that rich babe you've been cruising to school with every day?" You can see that Ron starts to move his mouth a few seconds after the words are spoken, and his mouth doesn't move correctly to the words being spoken either. (00:10:30)
Continuity mistake: Right before Freddy rips his scalp off, he's holding his hat at head level. When it cuts to showing him in front, the hat is no longer to be seen. (00:14:35)
Continuity mistake: While in the classroom when the teacher says "just like the human heart" you see Jesse supporting his head with his hand. When it cuts to a closeup of Jesse, you see the way his hand is supporting his head has changed. (00:15:55)
Continuity mistake: Right before the snake comes over Jesse's shoulder, you see him sleeping with his mouth closed. When it cuts it is open, and then again it is closed. (00:16:20)
Revealing mistake: When Jesse is cleaning out his room, he puts a tape into his tape player, and presses a button down on the top of it. But halfway though the scene of him packing his things away, you can clearly see the button is no longer pressed down, yet the tape still plays. (00:18:10 - 00:19:00)
Continuity mistake: When Jesse and Lisa are reading Nancy's diary, Lisa reads the first entry and it says all about Nancy dreaming of Freddy. The next entry that Lisa reads is about Tina being killed.If you remember in the first Nightmare, Nancy does not find out Freddy's name until after Tina is dead. The entries in the diary are not in order. (00:21:15)
Revealing mistake: When Jesse and Lisa are reading the diary you see the pages in the diary are clean. Nothing is written in the pages they are reading from. (00:21:35)
Revealing mistake: When the crazy bird is let out of the cage it starts flying around. Then it explodes in mid-air. A split-second before it explodes you can clearly see the size of the bird increase by about three times. (00:28:15)
Continuity mistake: When the balls start to bounce of the shelves, in one shot a basketball hits some tennis rackets which are hanging on the wall and a few of the rackets fall off the wall, but in the next shot the tennis rackets are hanging back up on the wall. (00:33:05)
