Continuity: In her room Melanie walks past a mirror that shows a reflection of the blanket on her bed. After she looks out the window at the pick-up truck she walks back and the lighting on the bed is turned off and the reflection is now dark. But if you look closely it's not dark enough to tell the bed has now been made up.

Continuity: When Melanie looks out the window to see the gas station attendant attacked by the birds the coat hanger that was there earlier in the scene, next to the window, is gone.

Continuity: As Mitch starts to run out of the restaurant the angle of the drapes to the left of the old drunk at the bar changes between shots. At first it's spread out more at the bottom, then up close it hangs straight down.

Continuity: As Melanie parks in front of the school there's a big hunk of black tar on the rear quarter panel of her car behind the tire, that wasn't there in the previous shot.

Continuity: As Melanie returns to Annie's house the sun is shining brightly overhead and not casting any shadows onto the front door. In the next shot as she rings the doorbell there are two distinct shadows of her on the house, one to her left and one to her right.

Continuity: When we see Mitch's red barn up close the sun is not shining and there are clouds behind it. The next time we see it a few seconds later it's a bright sunshiny day with a blue sky behind it.

Continuity: As Lydia walks into Mr. Faucet's room her shadow from the window in front of her falls on the wall to the right of the hallway. In the next shot looking at her coming through the door there's no shadow on the wall.

Continuity: As Melanie rings Annie's doorbell, there's a distinct reflection in the door. Later when Annie walks up onto the porch there's no reflection in the window of the door because they've been removed.

Continuity: Lydia is holding her glove in her right hand and her pocketbook in her left as she walks into Mr. Faucet's room. The pocketbook never switches hands but when she runs out, she drops both of them from her right hand.

Continuity: When Annie turns to look at Lydia coming out of the house there are no shadows against the side of the house where the door is. In the next shot there's a shadow of a balloon there and the shadows on the back wall are spaced closer together.

Continuity: On top of the hill Melanie spills a drop of her drink on her green skirt. It's on her right leg six inches below the bottom of her jacket. The action doesn't stop, but three minutes later the stain is gone.

Audio problem: After Annie tells the students about the fire drill, their lips, especially those of the girl in the front, are not in sync with what they're saying.

Continuity: As Lydia sits in her bed and says to Melanie, "I don't think I can bear to be left alone" watch the picture behind the door to the right of Melanie. The shadow of the door on the picture changes from the right to left between shots.

Audio problem: As Melanie parks in front of Annie's house the audio of her car engine is not in sync with the film. The engine sound stops before the exhaust stops coming out of her tail pipe and she eventually pops the clutch to stop the engine from running on.

Continuity: At the beginning, before Melanie walks behind the newsstand, it's an overcast day and she doesn't cast any shadow. As she emerges from the other side of the newsstand she casts several shadows against the wall and floor. The other people walking in front of the pet store are also casting shadows in several different directions. Throughout the film there are numerous changes regarding the casting of shadows between shots.

Continuity: The gravel walkways and driveways in "The Birds" are immaculately raked and maintained as seen in many shots. When Lydia pulls up to the house after finding Mr. Faucet's body, there's a tire mark in the exact same spot on the gravel from a previous take.

Continuity: In an earlier scene as Melanie plays the piano and Cathy stands there look closely at the drapes on her left. In that scene the drapes were right up against the edge of the wall, now as Mitch checks the windows before the last attacks they're pushed back several feet.

Continuity: As Melanie talks to her father on the phone, Mrs. Bundy walks into the restaurant and an ash tray that Melanie and Deke didn't touch appears right next to the phone between shots.

Continuity: In the upstairs bedroom attack the first blackbird scratches Melanie's face and her left hand goes from pointing upward to pointing across her face between shots.

Continuity: When Melanie walks over to see the gas station attendant attacked, the green drape is flush with the side of the window. No one touched it but a few shots later it's been pulled out about six inches from the side of the window.
