This film was the first in the Friday the 13th series that didn't gross over $20 million.
In the original script, there was a scene where Jason's father visits the empty grave. It was shot, but removed from the final version of the movie.
As an homage to a certain legendary horror actor, the cornershop at which Tommy phones Megan Garris (Jennifer Cooke) is called Karloff's General Store, after Boris Karloff.
