Trivia
The plot of Predator 2 underwent a few changes in its earliest stages. The role of Gary Busey's character 'Keyes' was actually intended to be Dutch, Arnold Schwarzenegger's character from the first film. Arnold was very outspoken against the script of Predator 2, and felt that taking it into the city was a bad idea. He declined filling the role. Hence, Peter Keyes was created. Arnold was approached one more time, to be Keyes' assistant (a role played by Adam Baldwin), but his response was the same as the first time: no way. See more...
Predator 2 (1990) - 32 mistakes
These mistakes are currently being ordered by time. Entries without times will appear at the end.
starring Bill Paxton, Danny Glover, Gary Busey (add more)
Continuity: At the warehouse, when Harrigan and the other officers are looking at the carnage caused by the Predator, Danny points out the dead Columbian hanging from the skylight. The camera cuts to show the man hanging dead from the skylight, and you can see that he has a good amount of blood running down his body. When Harrigan is ordered downstairs, the scene cuts again to the body being hauled up by the Predator, except now the amount of blood has increased tenfold, looking almost like someone threw a bucket of blood on the corpse.
Visible crew/equipment: When the Predator is attacking the Jamaicans in the penthouse, you will see the guy who gets pinned to the wall with the net propelled backwards. We are led to believe that it is the force of the Predator's weapon - not so - it is the bungie cable attached to his trousers.
Continuity: At the penthouse, the Predator lifts one of the Jamaicans on his wrist blades. Another Jamaican turns to see his friend dangling in the air with a claw sticking through his torso. In the next shot from the Predator's POV, the Jamaican is facing as before and still shooting at the wall like he didn't notice. After that, it shows the same man turning in an arc that should show the Predator, but it and the impaled man have disappeared entirely.
Continuity: At the penthouse, the Predator stabs a Jamaican with the spear and turns as another man steps out from behind a column. It switches to the Predator's POV and the man does the exact same thing again.
Revealing: When Danny falls down from the ceiling, watch closely and you can see the security wire attached to his leg.
Plot hole: When Harrigan and Captain Pilgrim leave the head Captain's office after being told not to impede Agent Keys' investigation, Harrigan then spots Keys and goes and roughs him up, shouting and generally making a nuisance of himself. Pilgrim was only just behind him. Harrigan's actions have caused everyone else to be quiet, so it's not as if Pilgrim doesn't know that Harrigan isn't manhandling Keys, yet he does nothing to intervene, especially in light of the meeting the pair of them just left.
Continuity: Harrigan goes to the medical examiner to ask her about Danny's body. When he asks about the other bodies, he straightens up as she answers, then he does it again in the next shot.
Continuity: As Harrigan is walking away from King Willie in the alley, Willie turns toward him to say, "Prepare yourself." His face is well-lit. In the next shot, Willie is facing away in the background and his head is entirely in shadow. He's turned and lit again for his next line.
Continuity: The threatened businessman on the train swings his gun all the way to the right, past the pole. The camera switches to his POV as he swings back, but he doesn't pass the pole again.
Continuity: In the scene on the subway before the Predator attacks. Bill Paxton's laser sight alternates being on and off every time the shot changes.
Visible crew/equipment: When Jerry is fighting the Predator in the subway car, watch closely behind him when he runs out of ammo. He bends over to pick up a knife, and you can see two distinct shadows on the wall in the strobing light. One is his, and the other belongs to the camera man standing a few feet to the side.
Revealing: When the subway train slams on the brakes, the camera cuts to a shot showing the sparks coming off the wheels as the train is slowing down. If you look at the wheels carefully, you can see that the train is already stationery, and the camera is panning down the train to give the impression its slowing down.
Continuity: After the Predator snatches the skull and spine from Bill Paxton and starts to street level while being chased by Danny Glover, you can see that the Predator is not carrying nor has the skull attached to it in any kind of way while jumping from rooftop to rooftop.
Continuity: When the Predator snatches the skull with the spinal cord attached from Bill Paxton's body in the subway tunnel, there should have at least been small amounts if not a good bit of blood left on the stairs leading up to the street surface by the time Danny Glover go to it while he was chasing him.
Visible crew/equipment: Towards the end of the movie, the Predator is climbing up the side of a tall building. Danny Glover jumps in his car to take off after it. As he starts to drive away, towards the left you can see the shadow of an elevated cameraman/equipment.
Continuity: At the end of the fight in the slaughter house, Lt. Harrigan scrambles up a ladder and goes onto the roof with the predator in hot pursuit. A few moments later, Harrigan slams into the predator and they both fall off the roof. Suddenly, they are about 30 stories up dangling from a ledge. The slaughter house wasn't 30 stories tall...it wasn't even three stories!
Continuity: Harrigan blows his way into the slaughterhouse with a series of explosions. The Predator whips around as soon as it hears the first one, then does it again after a few more explosions go off.
Audio problem: When the Predator is about to shoot Gary Busey, just before Danny Glover blows the door in, listen. The actor playing the Predator is counting to three before the explosion, preparing himself for the effect. Easily heard if you turn your tv up.
Revealing: When the predator fires his plasma caster in the slaughterhouse scene, you can see that the simple laser blast has been replaced by a Chinese sparkling firework on a string. In the original "Predator" you could see this same effect on a string but it was not nearly as spectacular and easier to miss.
