Corrected entry: In the riot scene Mahoney's window is open when he jumps into the police car and you don't see him close it, then when the rioters get to the police car it is closed.

Mala1610

Correction: That is because he rolled up his window off screen when the camera is on the Commandant, who is shown rolling his up.

Corrected entry: I know they can't throw people out, but wouldn't a liberalised Police Service take a very dim view of bigots such as Copeland?

Correction: This seems more like the poster's personal opinion than a mistake.

Corrected entry: Cadets Blanks and Copeland have all their hair shorn off at the police barber because they think that it's like the army. When they discover that it wasn't necessary, both men look quite horrified. Yet over the whole course of training, which took about 12 or 14 weeks, their hair does not grow back even an inch. And it's quite unlikely that they decided to keep it that short since they seemed to like having hair.

Correction: IMHO, it is certainly possible that once they got used to the idea, that they liked it or at least decided to try it out for a while. Many men keep their crewcuts even after leaving the military even though they would never have had a crewcut before.

They were also trying to suck up to Lt. Harris, and he loved their haircuts. They could've kept them for him.

Corrected entry: All Jones has is a microphone, which is hooked up to something, (we never see what, though), and he is able to control the police station and Police Academy's PA systems. So what is he carrying around which makes him able to do this? (And where can I get one)?

Correction: When we first meet Jones, we see that his microphone is hooked up to a portable bullhorn, of the type police use for crowd control. Jones does not control the PA systems, people just think that's where the sound is coming from.

J I Cohen

Plus the person doing the PA announcements sounds like Jones, because during the call for riot control Mahoney says something like "Was that you Jones?" and he says "Not this time."

Police Academy mistake picture

Continuity mistake: At the start of the film, Mahoney is wearing a white shirt with badges on it from the company he works for. When he's being interrogated by Sgt. Reed the shirt remains the same until the last part of the scene. The camera stays on Mahoney and we can see that the badges on the shirt are gone. If you look closely, you will notice that he is even wearing a completely different white shirt, which now looks more scruffy and creased. (00:08:00)

Carey Mahoney: What are you in for?
Larvell Jones: I'll show you. [holds a microphone to his mouth and imitates gun fire causing everyone to drop to the floor.]
Desk Officer: GOD DAMN IT, STOP THAT.

Trivia: The character of Callahan was supposed to be a mannish woman. Leslie Easterbrook (who was cast to play her) had to convince the filmmakers to let her portray Callahan as a sexy but tough seductress.

Question: In a real life situation, would Blankes and Copeland have any disciplinary actions against them when their guns were taken from them and used to hold Harris hostage and shoot at Mahoney?

Answer: With no witnesses to say HOW their guns were taken, they could have said they were taken by surprise and overpowered. Knowing their characters, this is likely what happened. No one would know the truth, that they simply froze and allowed the man to take their guns away.
