Continuity: During the storm the farm hands let the horses go and Dorothy runs to the back of the house as the wind blows directly in her face. If you look closely a large wood plank is sent sliding on the road, in the wrong direction into the wind.

Dorothy: How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know. But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking, don't they?
Trivia
The album "Dark side of the moon" by Pink Floyd seems to be in sync (by accident or design) with the Wizard of Oz if you start it right after the MGM lion roars the third time. Examples: the smoke turns black and blue when they are visiting the wizard as the words "black and blue" are sung. When the tone of the movie changes as Dorothy falls in the pigpen, the music picks up, becoming somewhat "panicky." When Auntie Em is "gripping" at the Uncles, the music has a nagging woman's voice that matches Auntie Em perfectly. The Tin Man's dance to a track called Speak to Me/Breathe. This has to be done with DVD/CD, and bear in mind that PAL format DVDs play back 4% faster due to differing frame rates, so for a 101 minute film like this it'll be 4 minutes apart from the NTSC version by the end, potentially messing up any synchronisation. The Wizard of Oz (1939) - 103 minor mistakes
Directed by Victor Fleming, starring Bert Lahr, Billie Burke, Frank Morgan, Jack Haley, Judy Garland, Margaret Hamilton, Ray Bolger (add more)
Genres: Adventure, Family, Fantasy, Musical
There is NO hanging in the background of the Wizard of Oz. Much like the "ghost" in Three Men and a Baby, it's just plain rubbish. Click here for details.
Revealing: In the scene of the Haunted Forest, when Dorothy is taken away by two of the flying monkeys, you can see that as she's kicking her legs in the air that they are mechanical. The kicking is very stiff and inhuman.
Continuity: The yellow brick road is made out of painted bricks. As they enter Oz it changes into shiny linoleum with grey grout marks painted on it.
Continuity: The rope around the Scarecrow's neck is tied differently throughout the scene after he meets Dorothy. The rag around his hat is rearranged also.
Continuity: Not only does Dorothy's hair change length during the film, it also changes shade. This was noticed on a DVD showing.
Continuity: As Zeke feeds the pigs we see his hankie sticking straight up out of his back pocket. He doesn't touch it but later before he pulls it out after rescuing Dorothy, it's hanging downward and much more is showing.
Continuity: After they first meet him when Dorothy pulls the Tin Man's arm down we see her dress and there's nothing on it. In the next shot there are several wet spots on the front of it.
Continuity: When the Scarecrow sings, " In trouble or in pain" Dorothy grabs him and is holding her basket with her left hand. In the next shot the basket is on her forearm.
Audio problem: As they all stand at the door to Oz Dorothy reaches for the knocker and we hear the overdubbed knocking sound before she touches it.
Continuity: When the Munchkins start coming out to see Dorothy, one Munchkin comes out of a manhole. But in other wide shots, and when Dorothy leaves to go to Oz, the manhole has totally disappeared.
Revealing: Soon after Dorothy, the Tin Man and the Scarecrow meet the Lion for the first time, they dance along the Yellow Brick Road, singing. As they disappear at the back of the set, their shadows can be seen on the backdrop, equally covering the trees and everything in between. DVD showing.
Continuity: After they put the green robe on the Cowardly Lion, the flowers in the three pots on the right are different that what we saw at the beginning of the scene.
Other: As they walk through the forest in the shot before Dorothy says, "I don't like this forest" there are some cool digital glitches in the lower left hand corner of the screen which look like a strand of blue Christmas lights blinking on and off. (Restored and re-mastered DVD version only).
Other: After the Wicked Witch throws fire down at them the Scarecrow kicks the stump next to him and it moves several times. The one behind him also moves.
Continuity: Dorothy sloppily puts some oil in the shoulder joint and in front of the elbow of the Tin Man after he does his song and dance "If I only had a heart". In the next shot it's gone.
Continuity: As the Cowardly Lion chases him, Toto runs off the Yellow Brick road into the bushes twice.
Continuity: Inside the cyclone, looking out the window the wind is blowing left to right. In the room the wind is blowing in the window from the right.
Continuity: When Toto escapes, he runs up to the three putting the Scarecrow back together and the Tin Man has nothing in his left hand. In the next shot the ax appears in his hand.
Continuity: When Glinda walks up the steps to greet Dorothy and the rest the floor can be seen and it's quite dirty. Later when Dorothy taps her heels together the same floor has been cleaned and shined.
Continuity: As Dorothy walks on the pigsty there are two grown pigs and about eight piglets in there. When she falls in more than 12 grown pigs now appear in the sty.
