Review: New Moon

Trivia

This film holds the record for the least amount of screen time that a lead actor has ever appeared on screen in the role he is credited for. Due to Roger Moore's age, eight different stand-ins/ stunt-people were employed during filming to play the role of 'Bond', along with Moore himself. See more...

Mistake Continuity: After Bond gets down from the Eiffel Tower to chase May Day he steals a car. While Bond is driving down the stairs you can clearly see a Red sticker or decal on the right side of the car. After the car is cut in half it is not there.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: During the pursuit scene in San Francisco, there's a long shot where the fire truck passes in front of the camera just before the two police cars get separated. During that shot, you can see a camera crew on the top of the truck, in front of the ladder.

Mistake Continuity: When Zorin is trying to break into the shed where Bond is, just after he's worked out what time high tide is, the door rattles, dropping a hard hat onto the ground, but leaving a red/yellow light/reflector hanging, quite securely. The door lock is also pointing down and right. A couple of shots later, without the door being rattled forcibly again, there's nothing hanging behind it, and the door lock is pointing right.

Mistake Revealing: When the Rolls Royce is going underwater, it twists a little and you can clearly see that the car is empty.

Mistake Audio problem: When Bond steals the cab driver's car after coming down from the Eiffel Tower the words the cab driver yells doesn't match up to the way his lips move.

Mistake Revealing: When May Day jumps off the Eiffel Tower, a long ramp can be seen suspended at the top of the Tower. It was obviously needed to give the stuntman a sufficient run-up so that he flew clear of the structure.

Mistake Revealing: When Patrick MacNee and Roger Moore are pushed into the lake in the Rolls Royce, you can clearly see the wire pulling the car into the water.  It leaps out of the water as it takes the strain.

Mistake Continuity: When Zorin's men attacks Stacey's house, she throws a jar at one of them. A huge part stays on his head and he doesn't remove it when he escapes with the other. When Stacey is taking the broken parts on the floor, you can see that same huge part. At the place it is on the floor, the man had to put it gently on the floor, something he didn't.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Roger Moore is chasing Grace Jones in Paris after the Eiffel Tower scene, he jumps off a bridge and onto a tourist barge passing under along the River Seine. As he crashes through the glass roof, you can clearly see that it is a mannequin in a tuxedo.

Mistake Continuity: When Bond says "Well, it's not mutual." to Max Zorin outside the Rolls Royce, Zorin is standing right in front of him. In the next scene, Zorin has suddenly moved away from Bond and Scarpine is now in front of Bond.

Mistake Revealing: When Tibbett kicks one of the guards in Zorin's warehouse, watch the reaction by the other guard. He reacts before Tibbett's boot makes contact with the guard.

Mistake Continuity: When M calls Moneypenny and Bond, there's a closeup on the intercom and James is holding her hat behind it but in the next shot, he is further from the intercom.

Mistake Continuity: When Bond is knocked off the snowmobile near the beginning, he falls face down next to the snowmobile skid, not moving. After a brief cut away, we then see him lifting himself up from a face-up sitting position. He's had no time to move himself that way.

Mistake Continuity: When the bearded security guard attempts to punch Bond in Zorin's warehouse, Bond moves out of the way and the guard makes a hole in the crate. In the next scene, when several crates fall on the guard knocking him out, Bond has suddenly disappeared, and the hole in the crate that the guard has made is bigger than it was in the previous scene.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Bond's car (stolen Taxi) gets cut into half, the man driving (long shot) is a stuntman and not Roger Moore.

Mistake Continuity: When Bond grabs Stacey after the Zorin Airship blows up, you can see the fireaxe resting between them. The camera shot changes to one above them and the fireaxe has now gone.

Mistake Continuity: When Scarpine knocks out Bond, he pushes him into the back of the Rolls Royce and he lies on his back unconscious next to Tibbett. However, when Zorin and May Day drive the Rolls Royce to the river, the 'unconscious' Bond has now managed to sit himself up on his seat.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: If you watch very carefully when Zorin pulls Stacey into his airship, you can see a crew member reflected in the front window.

Mistake Continuity: When Bond and Stacy leave the mine shack, him in a company jacket and her in overalls, you can see she is wearing red heels which Bond comments "it is the union" to a worker. Later when May Day rips the overalls off Stacy she is wearing white shoes to match her dress.

Mistake Continuity: Near the end of the film when Bond and Mayday are trapped in the water rushing into the mine, her hairdo is totally drenched when her entire head is submerged and her wet, straightened hair falls onto her forehead. The next scene, when they are walking through the water and debris, her hair is beautifully sculpted as it has been through the entire film.

Mistake Revealing: After Mayday drops the recalcitrant businessman out of the zeppelin, there's a long shot of him falling into the water far below. An obvious dummy, his legs are flailing much too limply (and in too many directions) to be human.

Mistake Audio problem: During the pre-credit sequence, as the girl falls onto the bed with Bond, she says "Commander Bond", but her mouth doesn't move.

Mistake Revealing: When Bond pushes on of the man that is attacking the house, you can see that the bannister is pre-cut and the parts are attached with some kind of hooks.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Roger Moore is driving the stolen firetruck he passes a gas station. When he hits the sign of the gas station you can clearly see a whole camera rig on the side of the truck.

Mistake Plot hole: After the initial explosion below San Andreas Lake, there is another clip showing the fisherman in trouble. Water spray is now coming both from behind him - where the explosion was - and in front of him - from high above. How could an explosion from below generate water from above?

Mistake Other: Zorin supposedly falls from the top of a pillar of the Golden Gate Bridge, however 2 seconds after falling he is below the road. This is not possible as the drop is too great. Even taking into account of Zorin accelerating.

Mistake Plot hole: When Bond and Tibbett break into the underground lab and find the device which drugs the racehorses, you can see that it has a large light emitting diode (LED) on the top of it. What possible use would that be, since the device is implanted in the horse's leg, and is supposed to be covert?

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Bond steals the taxi, you can see a boom mic and operator reflected in the rear window as Bond drives away.

Mistake Factual error: Zorin throws a 2 liter bottle of gasoline on the elevator in which Bond and Stacy are trapped. The fire from gasoline is nowhere near hot enough to melt a steel elevator cable.

Mistake Revealing: When Bond and Ivanova are at the Japanese spa, steam is coming from somewhere in front of the water, not from the water itself.

Mistake Revealing: When Zorin falls off the Golden Gate bridge, you can see in the long shot it's just a dummy.

Mistake Continuity: When Bond is using the tyre valve to breathe underwater, "Michelin" is spelled out in white on the tire but all previous shots of the car show blackwall tyres.

Mistake Audio problem: When Bond and Stacey are escaping from the shed in the mine, Zorin fires 7 shots from his six-gun revolver. Not to be outdone, Dr. Morimer fires 8 shots in succession from the blimp door from his six-gun.

Mistake Revealing: After knocking out one of the guards in Zorin's warehouse, Bond places him into a wooden packaging on the conveyor belt. If you watch carefully, the 'unconscious' guard uses his hand to push himself into the packaging.

Mistake Factual error: When Zorin blows the explosives on the train in the mine tunnel, the tunnel collapses, letting the water from San Andreas Lake in. However that would not have generated a huge water column on the surface of the lake. That could only happen with a bomb in the water, not deep below the lake bed.

Mistake Continuity: Bond's air tank is perforated on the middle after he has thrown it into the propeller blade. But it would have been hit in the end, not in the middle, after being pushed into a fast spinning blade.

Mistake Continuity: When the Rolls sinks its back end is pointing upwards; the front end going down in a steep angle. But when Bond is getting out of it and gets air from the tires it is upside down. And the surface is not far away. It is impossible that it could have turned over.

Mistake Continuity: When the police officer is trying to arrest 007 in front of the fire truck, Bond is assuming the position, facing the truck, with both hands pressed against the side. Bond turns away from the truck, removing his hands from the side, but in the next shot, when the camera zooms into Stacey, his hands leave the truck again.

Mistake Continuity: In the beginning of the movie when James Bond is taking the chip out of the necklet from the corpse he's suddenly not wearing the gloves he did before. A cut later when he's escaping from the enemies he's wearing his gloves again.

Mistake Continuity: When the Rolls Royce sinks it is a lot further away from Zorin and May than when Bond looks out of the water while he is getting air from the tyres.

Mistake Revealing: When Bond jumps on top of the elevator in the Eiffel Tower you can see briefly that it is not Roger Moore but his stunt double.

Mistake Audio problem: Scarpine's comment about Bond hanging from the mooring line doesn't match his lip movement.

Mistake Other: Stacey says to Bond that the jar she throws on one of the men that attacked her house contained the ashes of her grandfather. There's actually nothing in the jar.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: Near the end, after May Day explodes, Zorin grabs Stacey Sutton. As he does this you can see a cable holding him out of the blimp.

Mistake Factual error: Bond and Stacy jump across the 3rd street bridge in the firetruck in the dead of night. When they arrive at Main Strike Mine it is as if they have been driving for a long time. However it is clear that they are close to town - and San Andreas Lake is only 12 miles south of the 3rd street bridge.

Mistake Continuity: If a diving tank were perforated under water there would be a big 'explosion' from the release of compressed air. No such thing happens when Bond throws his tank into the propeller blade.

Mistake Audio problem: When Bond is knocked unconscious into the back of the Rolls Royce, everyone gathered around moves away. Listen carefully and you can distinctly hear a technician/assistant say, 'Mind that door.' It cannot be dialogue from the film due to the way it is said.

Mistake Continuity: When Bond chases May Day up the Eiffel Tower, she throws the fishing rod at him and the wire wraps around his legs. As he falls down he has the gun in his hand. The next shot his hands are free and he is untying the wire. The next shot he has the gun in his hand. At no point does he put the gun down and pick it up.

Mistake Continuity: During the fire-truck chase-scene the pursuing police cars are shown to be a pair of Dodge Monacos, but during subsequent shots one of them changes into a smaller Plymouth Fury. The cars are not very similar to each other and vastly different in size.
