A View to a Kill
A View to a Kill mistake picture

Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the movie when James Bond is taking the chip out of the necklet from the corpse he's suddenly not wearing the gloves he did before. A cut later when he's escaping from the enemies he's wearing his gloves again. (00:01:15)

Visible crew/equipment: At the very start as Bond looks behind him we see a closeup of Bond's sunglasses. In this closeup you can see a stagelight reflected. (00:01:30)

Continuity mistake: During the ski chase Bond's footwear changes from ski boots to ankle boots or grey trainers, this was done so Bond could run in the snow. (00:02:30)

Revealing mistake: When Bond is being chased down the mountain by the chopper, at one point the camera does a close up. As it does, Bond appears to have a dark line around him, and the background is blurry. This is because he's on a sound stage, and the rest is projected behind him. (00:03:00)

Continuity mistake: When Bond is knocked off the snowmobile near the beginning, he falls face down next to the snowmobile skid, not moving. After a brief cut away, we then see him lifting himself up from a face-up sitting position. He's had no time to move himself that way. (00:03:05)

Continuity mistake: When Bond flies off the snowmobile after the explosion, there is a white mask like fabric over his face. In the closeup, it's gone. (00:03:05)

Movie Nut

Character mistake: In the pre-credits sequence, when Bond is fighting the Soviet troops who are attacking him, Bond hooks a grappling hook onto the back of a Soviet soldier who is a riding an snowmobile, which sends the soldier flying off the snowmobile and hanging over an icy ledge. The soldier then says "Pomageete! Roger Moore pomageete!" which is Russian for "Help! Roger Moore help!" (00:03:05)

Factual error: When Bond crashes the snowmobile he ends up in a ditch to escape - he uses the front ski, but when he knocks the two soldiers over he is skiing uphill - no way to manage this from a standing start in a ditch. (00:03:07)

Revealing mistake: Just as Bond lands the improvised snowboard, a track from a previous take is visible next to Bond. (00:03:50)

Audio problem: At the beginning where James Bond makes a helicopter crash the sound of the helicopter makes a sound of a plane about to crash. (00:04:50)

Jeffy

Audio problem: When Bond says "Be a good girl will you, and put her on automatic" to Kimberley Jones in the iceberg submarine, his mouth is not moving. (00:05:30)

Audio problem: During the pre-credit sequence, as the girl falls onto the bed with Bond, she says "Commander Bond", but her mouth doesn't move. (00:06:10)

Continuity mistake: When M calls Moneypenny and Bond, there's a closeup on the intercom and James is holding her hat behind it but in the next shot, he is further from the intercom. (00:09:50)

Continuity mistake: When May Day is trying to calm Zorrin's horse at the racetrack, her red scarf is completely covering her hair. Camera changes to show a full face shot and it's no longer completely covering her hair. (00:14:50)

Continuity mistake: During the chase between Bond and May Day on the Eiffel Tower, May Day turns around and whips a fishing line at Bond which sends him sprawling over the rail. When he is suspended upside down halfway over the railing you can see his legs are wide apart, but when he regains his balance and starts to unwind the line, his legs are now bound together. (00:17:30)

Continuity mistake: When Bond chases May Day up the Eiffel Tower, she throws the fishing rod at him and the wire wraps around his legs. As he falls down he has the gun in his hand. The next shot his hands are free and he is untying the wire. The next shot he has the gun in his hand. At no point does he put the gun down and pick it up. (00:17:40)

A View to a Kill mistake picture

Revealing mistake: When May Day jumps off the Eiffel Tower, a long ramp can be seen suspended at the top of the Tower. It was obviously needed to give the stuntman a sufficient run-up so that he flew clear of the structure. (00:18:10)

Continuity mistake: When we see Mayday jump from the Eiffel Tower in close-up, it's only a rather tiny jump (and would probably have resulted in her crashing into the tower on the way down). But in the next shot, shown from a distance, she is now about ten feet out and has completely cleared the tower. (00:18:20)

Factual error: May Day eludes Bond by executing a base jump from the top of the Eiffel tower. Bond then chases her for several minutes before she finally lands on the boat on the Seine river. The problem is that a base jumper from 300 metres (the height of the Eiffel tower) will only take about 30 seconds to reach the ground. Bond would not even have had the time to descend from the tower in the elevator before she would have landed. (00:18:30)

Tibbett, Sir Godfrey: Another wealthy owner?
James Bond: Who knows? But she certainly bares closer inspection.
Tibbett, Sir Godfrey: We're on a mission.
James Bond: Sir Godfrey, on a mission, I am expected to sacrifice myself.

Trivia: When Grace Jones screams during the mine sequence, when sparks fly around her, her screams are for real. Jones did not know that the electric cables around her would go off as a special effect for the scene.

Question: I read somewhere that Dolph Lundgren, who was Grace Jones' boyfriend at the time, has a small part in the film, however I can't spot him. Can anyone tell me who he is?

Answer: He plays a KGB agent helping General Gogol. It's real "blink-and-you-miss-him" stuff.
