Plot hole: During the end the murderer is thrown out the front window of the building. The students leave the building through the front door, but yet there is no body, and that doesn't seem to bother them!

Urban Legend (1998) - 37 mistakes
starring Alicia Witt, Jared Leto (add more)
Continuity: When Michelle thinks she is being attacked, she grabs the
phone and throws it through the window, and it smashes
out all of the glass. Yet as she climbs out, there is an
amount of glass which has reappeared in the side ledge.
Continuity: During the scene with Parker, Natalie and Brenda talking
in the coffee lounge, the bottles of water on the table
in between them rotate on their own accord. Additional
items move and appear as well as the scene goes on.
Continuity: At the end of the film, Paul went in the house when it was raining, but his coat is not wet.
Continuity: When the killer has hanged Damon in the tree and smashes the front window of the car, the girl in the car is backing, and when she does that the killer falls off the car, and then you can, if you listen carefully, hear a mans voice "say" something like "uff". The killer is a girl but the stuntman is a man.
Continuity: When Damon leaves the car to go into the woods to pee,
Natalie soon becomes confronted by the lunatic. She opens
the drivers seat door and the window is fully closed. In
the next shot it is wide open and she rolls it up
frantically.
Continuity: In the first shot of Tosh at the computer in the Goth
chat room, she has black lipstick on. From then on her
lips are clean; leaving it open for her to say that she
'is just going to get ready', to her chat room friend.
Continuity: When Natalie opens the door and Parker's body falls out,
it is covered in foam from the way in which he was killed
earlier on. Between shots the foam covering his differs.
Also, the position of his right arm changes between these
shots.
Continuity: In the climax of the movie, Brenda is shot out of the
boarded up window. However the boards that are nailed
across the window change. Firstly, there are only a few
planks with many gaps. But from outside, the whole window
is boarded, with NO gaps.
Continuity: When Michelle pulls up into the gas station, her
windshield wipers are on. The wipers are just about to
swing upwards. Cut to a close up and they are no longer
in the process of swinging upwards but, are down.
Visible crew/equipment: After Michelle climbs out of the window and runs across
the gas station to her car, the camera follow her in an
overhead shot. If you watch to the left of the screen you
can see the large shadow of the camera crane that
follows.
Continuity: When Sasha is on the air in her radio station talking to
a caller who has phoned in, she sits down and removes the
outer cover on her microphone. However in the next shot
the cover is back on. It is then off again in the next
shot.
Continuity: When Sasha is pushed over the banister by the killer, she
grabs the corner of the stairs; as she hangs on, her
hands change position. In one shot she has one hand
either side of the corner. Then she has both hands on the
right side, then back again.
Continuity: When Tosh is on the computer she is in a Gothic chat
room. As she types her first message you can see it is
for the entire room. But as the shot changes it is now
for just one user. It happens too fast for it to be a
technological intervention.
Audio problem: When Michelle is taken inside by the gas station
attendant, she thinks he is going to attack her. As she
tries the locked door and he grabs her, we hear
herscreams but her mouth doesn't match up to them.
Revealing: When Natalie is in the old building and she is looking
around, she opens the door and Parker's dead body falls
out onto the floor. When it cuts to a close up of his
body, you can clearly see the side of his neck pulsating
although he is dead.
Continuity: At the frat party, the song Love Rollercoaster by Ohio
Players is played, and one of the guys points out the
scream, which is the scream of a woman being murdered.
However the scream we hear in the film is not the same
scream which is in the song.
Continuity: When Damon and Natalie are in the car, Damon begins to
tell Natalie about his girlfriend who had a syndrome. He
brings his hand up to his face; between shots the
location of his hand on his face keeps changing.
Plot hole: When Natalie and Brenda are looking at old Stanley Hall and hear moaning, they back away. The culprit, Damon, is suddenly behind them. As the noise was coming from just inside the building, how did Damon magically appear behind the girls in the space of seconds? No one is that fast.
Plot hole: In one gruesome scene, the killer hangs Natalie's friend in the woods and then crashes a car into a tree. Natalie escapes and comes back with campus security (who didn't bother to call the police even though a murder had just been committed). When Natalie and the guard get to the murder scene, all evidence is gone. How did the killer manage to remove the body and all pieces of the car within ten minutes (not to mention somehow hide the dent left in the tree by the car crash)?
Continuity: Near the end of the movie Natalie finds Brenda laying on
the bed. Then suddenly Brenda gets up and suprises
Natalie by punching her on her right [our left] cheek.
However when Natalie awakens, tied to the bed, the bruise
is on her other cheek.
Continuity: When Natalie is in the car, all of a sudden the tapping
on the car roof starts, like the Urban Legend. The thuds
and taps cause the passenger seat sun-visor to fall down.
But in the next shot from outside, it is pushed back up.
Continuity: When Brenda is caught wounding Natalie by Reese, she
backs away. As Reese points her gun at Brenda and tells
her to back up, between shots Brenda's coat keeps
changing it's position on her shoulders from on or off
them.
Continuity: When Natalie and Paul are talking upstairs at the party,
at one point Paul puts his hand up by Natalie's ear.
Natalie then puts her hand up on Paul's wrist. However
between shots the hand she placed on his wrist keeps
appearing then disappearing.
Audio problem: When Natalie shoots Brenda backwards, causing her to fly
out of the window, we hear the sound of smashing glass as
she flies out. However there was no glass; the window was
missing and the hole was boarded up with planks, so we
should not hear glass.
Continuity: When Natalie and Brenda are walking across campus and
come across the stall with Paul's newspapers, Natalie
picks up one of them. Between shots, the way she holds it
open changes from holding it in the middle, to the top.
Continuity: When Natalie is in the car, she is unaware that tied to
the back is rope which is also hanging Damon from the
tree. When she reverses, this causes him to crash into
the windshield. However between shots the way he is
falling and the way he lands is inconsistent.
Continuity: Inside the radio station tower, Sasha is just being
introduced to a new speaker calling in. The equipment
assistant holds up a card saying 'Felicia' for Sasha,
with his left hand. In the next shot it is in his right.
Plot hole: When the girl in the car gets killed she is decapitated with an axe. All you see is her noticing someone in the back of the car then a shot of an axe coming through the driver's seat window. How did the killer manage to swing an axe in a car and take off someone's head whilst he was sitting right behind her?
Factual error: If you cover someone's mouth with a 2-3 inch strip of duct tape, or electricians tape, rather than go around the entire head, it is VERY VERY easy to repeated open your mouth wide, then scrunch face over and over again and work the tape off to the point where you can scream. Actually, duct tape, which is used by most of the offending movies is even easier than that. It can usually be almost completely removed in a matter of seconds. Electricians tape as used in this movie, is a little harder since it is stickier, by still can be done fairly easily. I suppose that it can be argued that people in these situations are scared, or don't know any better and therefore don't TRY to remove it. But in this movie, the main character is getting her stomach cut open and screaming in intense pain. This would cause enough facial movement for the tape to work itself free.
Continuity: Brenda is showing Natalie a slideshow using a projector to show her how her boyfriend was killed; she firstly shows a photo, then a newspaper article. The article is left projected for the whole scene. That is until Brenda is shot out of the window, and now it is the photo that is back to being projected.
Visible crew/equipment: When the camera is fixed on the television set, showing
the news report of the death of Michelle, if you look to
the left of the screen, there is a reflection of the
camera, but more noticeable is the large red dot from it.
Continuity: When Michelle gets back into her car after escaping the
gas station attendant, as she drives following the
moments up to when she is decapitated in her car, her wet
fringe keeps on changing position between shots.
Continuity: In the opening scene with Michelle driving, there is a
wide shot of the dash board, and you can see the pointer
is on fifty-eight mph. Then in the next close up of the
low fuel signal, the pointer is no longer there.
Plot hole: Natalie and her friend once forced another driver off the road, resulting in an accident that killed the other driver. Natalie and the friend then admitted this to the police, and their punishment was... ONE YEAR'S PROBATION?. Is the American justice system really this lenient?
Plot hole: When Natalie and Damon are in the woods when Damon goes to the bathroom and the killer approaches him from the behind, it cuts to the scene with Natalie in the car. Then she gets out and sees the killer then runs to the car. You see the killer put rope on the car but how does the killer hang Damon without Natalie noticing?
Plot hole: How did Brenda get from the woods to her car and onto the road where Natalie was in the minute or so from the time she falls in the woods to the time she runs the janitor off the road?
