Revealing mistake: Doug has the hologram when inside the alien nuclear reactor, and a bunch of bad guys encircle the holographic image and fire at it at point blank with automatic weapons, and not one bad guy gets hit. If they encircled the 3D image, at least a few bad guys would have been hit by their own men. (01:37:00)
Total Recall (1990)
Ending / spoiler
Directed by: Paul Verhoeven
Starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sharon Stone, Ronny Cox, Michael Ironside, Marshall Bell, Rachel Ticotin, Mel Johnson Jr., Michael Champion
Arnold saves the day by activating the generator that provides Mars with a breathable atmosphere. It's possible that it was all a dream. In the beginning of the film Arnold gets dreams implanted. While doing so, the technician looks at the tape of the implanted memory and says: "Blue sky on Mars. That's a new one." This is the exact ending of the movie.

Question: There is a scene in the movie in which Arnie disguises as a woman to pass the entrance control in Mars. Moments later, the mask he's using starts to malfunction and he has to take it off. When he's doing that, we can see that the man who's playing Quaid is not Arnie but a stunt double. Why did the director choose a stunt double to replace Arnie in a scene that's not risky at all?

Answer: It's not a stunt double, it's a mannequin (fake head actually) of Arnie, used for the artificial head shot.
