Beauty and the Beast

Continuity mistake: After the scene when Gaston is talking to the Asylum-keeper, it then cuts to a wide view of Belle and Maurices house. There is clearly no snow by the wall of the stairs or on top of the water turbine. Then when Gaston and Le Fou search for Maurice and Belle and find the house empty, they leave, and then Gaston throws Le Fou into a large pile of snow by the wall, and there is also a very large pile of snow sitting on the water turbine, which has magically appeared, without it snowing. Continuity mistake: When Belle opens the bedroom door for Mrs. Potts and Chip, in the close-up the bottom corners of the doors are aligned perfectly with the edge of the floor tiles, when both doors are closed. Later, when Cogsworth comes in to announce dinner, the bottom corners of the doors are above the center of the tile, when the doors are closed. This should never change. (00:30:15 - 00:31:20)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: It is said that the magical rose will start to wither until the Beast's 21st birthday, and in the song 'Be our Guest', everyone sings "It's ten years since we've had anybody here, and we're obsessed". So that would make the Beast only 11 years old when he turned away the Enchantress that put a spell on him, however he is portrayed as being much older-looking.

Factual error: In the "No One's Great as Gaston" song (in the tavern) Gaston uses his blunderbuss to shoot three holes (three separate shots) in a barrel of beer. But a blunderbuss is a single-shot weapon. He would have to shoot, reload, shoot, reload, and shoot. (00:27:40)

Continuity mistake: When Lefou runs out of the castle, he is missing one shoe. In the next shot, outside the castle, if you look closely he has both shoes on.

Continuity mistake: Cogsworth's height as a human keeps changing in the final minute or so of the film. For instance, when he first transforms from a clock into a man, he comes up to about half of Lumiere's head, but when they argue, Cogsworth is taller than that. Then in the last shot, as it zooms out as Belle and the prince are dancing, he doesn't even come up to Lumiere's shoulders.

Continuity mistake: After Beast shows Belle to her room, he slams the door and when Belle leans on the door there are backplates secured to the door, behind the two door handles. However, in the next shot the backplates are gone. (00:24:50)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: When the Beast briefly dies at the end of the film, before being turned human, Belle cries and lays down on his chest, with her head resting on his red cape and her hand clutching it. However when it cuts to a closeup, Belle's head is suddenly resting further down, on his white shirt, and she is clutching the shirt now too instead of the cape. (01:17:35)

Continuity mistake: When Maurice enters the castle, the bolts on the doors are golden. Later in this scene, the bolts change to black.

Continuity mistake: During the song "Gaston", Le Fou ties a belt around Gaston's neck and Gaston pops it off with his neck muscles, but then it disappears from the floor.

Suggested correction: No, it doesn't. Gaston puts the belt in his chair.

Continuity mistake: When Gaston breaks that part of the castle off to hit Beast with it, that piece is rather short and stout (maybe 3 feet long). But a couple shots later when Beast grabs onto it, it seems to be a good 5 feet or so long and very thin.

Continuity mistake: Chip the teacup has his chip in the right side of the cup. However in the scene when Belle and the Beast are eating porridge, the Beast slurps his porridge, getting it all over himself, and it then cuts to Mrs. Potts and Chip turning to look at Belle, however in this shot Chip's chip is on the left side of the cup. Hamster

Continuity mistake: Early in the film, Gaston throws Belle's book into the mud and she wipes it off with her white dress. However, no mud appears on her dress after she does this.

Continuity mistake: The amount of eggs which land on the floor / on LeFou's face is much lower than the the number which he threw up into the air. (00:28:40)

Hamster

Continuity mistake: At the very end, when all the objects change back into humans, the position of the roses on the walls in the background changes between shots. (01:23:25)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where the villagers try to take away Maurice, the position of the vines over the cellar doors changes between shots.

Continuity mistake: When the Beast and Belle are in front of the fireplace reading the book, a pot magically appears next to the coat hanger.

Continuity mistake: When Maurice first comes to the castle, there is no smoke from any of the chimneys, even though we later see that there is a fire inside.

Deliberate mistake: During the Gaston song in the tavern, Gaston is wearing a pull over shirt with no buttons in front. At one point in the song he rips open his shirt to show off the hair on his chest. The very next second, however, his shirt is back to normal. The shirt is not ripped or disheveled, and it is completely unscathed as if it had never been ripped open or torn apart.

Continuity mistake: Outside Belle's house there is a wishing well situated on the grass directly in front of the window and cellar doors, plainly seen in the initial shot of Belle leaving her home to go to town. However in the scene where Chip gets Maurices woodcutter going, as it hurtles towards the cellar doors in a wideshot, the wishing well has vanished!! (00:02:45 - 01:11:55)

Gaston: The whole town's talking about it! It's not RIGHT for a woman to read. Soon she starts getting ideas, and THINKING...!

Trivia: Though not revealed in the movie, the Prince's name is Adam. At the New Orleans Disneyworld, the Princess hotel rooms have portraits of each Disney prince. The 'Beauty & the Beast' prince is shown in human form and his name stated underneath as 'Prince Adam.' In addition, the officially licensed Disney Fisherprice 'Little People' sets include 'Belle and Prince Adam.'

Question: The timing of the Beast's curse has always confused me. The movie states he has until the rose wilts completely to break the spell, and that said rose will bloom until his twenty first year. So was the Beast's deadline his 21st birthday or would the rose begin to wilt on his 21st birthday and he would then have only a little under a year (judging from how much time appears to pass in the film) till all the petals fell off?

Answer: The Rose started wilting at The Beast's 21st birthday and could have presumably started wilting years before the first time we saw a petal fall off. Given the fact that Lumiere stated that they were living with the curse for 10 years, prince Adam could be 23-24 years old at the time of the original movie,13-14 at the time of the curse, and the Rose could have been wilting for two to three years. This is my best guess given the approximate age of Prince Adam in the ripped up portrait before he was the Beast.

Answer: I would assume it would be until his 21st birthday, as that is really the 21st year since his birth. After his 21st birthday he'd be older than 21.
