Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Jack is showing Rose how to spit and is interrupted by the arrival of her mother, the glob of spit on his face moves from the side to the middle.

Mistake Continuity: In the film, Titanic has a yellow stripe down from the bow to the stern, however the yellow stripe disappears from the film in some scenes, and appears in others. The main one is the sinking.

Mistake Continuity: At the very beginning of the film when Brock is talking with the big guy, they walk up stairs turn to the right, and right in front of them is a large piece of the ship with a no smoking sign on it, yet in the following shot, the large piece has turned into a very small piece, not even enough room for the sticker.

Mistake Factual error: Early in the film Jack smokes hand-rolled cigarettes. When he is smoking on the stern deck before Rose is thinking about jumping, he is smoking a mass-produced filter cigarette. Filters in cigarettes didn't exist in 1912.

Mistake Continuity: When cuffed Jack is screaming for help, you can see the water level in the porthole in the background although the room in which he is cuffed, has already been shown to be completely under water.

Mistake Factual error: The reception room's double doors leading into the first class dining saloon only have bronze grilles in the movie. In 1912, there was actually a pane of glass in each door with the grilles behind them on the dining room side. On the collector's DVD commentary, James Cameron mentions they didn't discover this until a later Titanic expedition in 2001.

Mistake Continuity: At the beginning of the film when Cal sees Rose putting her paintings up, if you watch closely in the background, in one shot Cal walks into the room with his glass at his side, in the following shot it is at stomach level.

Mistake Factual error: In the scene on deck where Leo tells Rose that he could be considered like "a tumbleweed blowing in the wind," he is using both a term and a visual imagery that would not have been widely understood in 1912. The "tumbleweed" is actually a Russian thistle that was first introduced to Victoria, B.C. in contaminated ship ballast in 1893 and was not seen in Washington state until 1907. It was only after motion pictures of the 1920's and 1930's began to show tumbleweeds moving that either the term or the visual image would have made any real sense as a commonly understood comparison.

Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Jack is drawing Rose, as he is about to start drawing, the shot cuts back and forth from a close-up to a wider shot. In the wide shots Jack is holding his charcoal pencil, in the close-ups he is not holding it.

Mistake Continuity: When it goes from young Rose blowing a whistle to the rescuers to elderly Rose's eyes, you see her eyelashes are short and light coloured. Then at the end when we pass sleeping Rose we see her eyelashes are long.

Mistake Revealing: Just after the officer kills himself, there is a scene where many people are pulling a lifeboat, it falls and a man falls over the boat, almost "bouncing" - it is obvious this boat wasn't made of wood.

Mistake Continuity: When the ships sinks and the back is rising, you see no people swim under the ship. When the ship breaks and falls down, the sea is crowded with people, who get crushed under the ship.

Mistake Continuity: When Rose leaves Jack's company to retrieve help, and goes to return with the axe, she stops at the stairway with the rising water and wedges the axe on the bars. The camera cuts to behind Rose to show her removing her outerwear, and the axe is still being held up by the bars but it's nice and straight, before and after this camera shot, the axe is propped in the bars crooked at an angle.

Mistake Factual error: Cal and Rose are supposedly in cabins B52-54-56, but in reality this was the suite occupied by Chairman Bruce Ismay.
