Continuity: Wendy tries to use the phone to call the forest rangers and it doesn't work, so she walks to Mr. Ullman's office to use the radio. As she walks past the table that the hedge maze is on, it has been moved in relation to the designs on the floor underneath it from when Jack walked over to that spot a few shots ago.

Continuity: After Jack's scolding in the Colorado Lounge, there's a shot of Danny and Wendy running in the snowstorm past the garage. If you look closely, the snow cat is parked right in the spot where, during Mr. Ulman's tour, we saw a row of lamp posts.

Continuity: Two separate stacks of music appear on top of the grand piano between shots as Jack throws the tennis ball.

Continuity: In the Colorado Lounge as Jack throws a tennis ball against the fireplace the pile of wood to the right of it gets smaller between shots.

Continuity: In the center of the hedge maze, Wendy and Danny go from walking in sunlight to being in the shadow of the hedges between shots.

Deliberate "mistake": The map in front of the actual hedge maze, that we see when Danny and Wendy run into it, and the miniature hedge maze that Jack looks at on the table are almost exact. Everything except the center of the map, which is not even remotely close to the miniature hedge maze or the subsequent shot of them walking in it. This is a common mistake as props can be made by the art department long before the actual shooting begins.

Continuity: Danny drives his trike into The Colorado Lounge and the wood statue between Jack’s desk and the piano has been rotated. If you look at the top it’s pointing in the opposite direction from when we saw it earlier in the movie during Mr. Ullman’s tour.

Continuity: As Dick Hallorannn discusses "Shining" with Danny the chocolate around Danny's mouth and on the inside of his bowl change many times between shots without him going near them.

Continuity: As Dick Hallorannn discusses "Shining" with Danny over ice cream, there are several stacks of plates on the cart behind them near his office, and they are all stacked evenly with each other. No one else is working in this area but when we saw this spot before as Dick Hallorannn showed Danny and Wendy the storeroom the second stack of plates was only half the height of the stack on the right.

Continuity: As they are closing the Overlook Hotel for the winter we see at least 50 employees but as Dick Hallorannn, Danny and Wendy walk away from the ice box there are only nine punch cards in the time clock.

Continuity: In a scene near the beginning of the movie when Danny is throwing darts in the play room two girls appear in front of him. In the first shot look closely at the ashtray on the table in front of the phone booth, it's squarely in the middle of the table. No one goes near this spot but the next time we see it the ashtray has been moved about four inches to the right.

Continuity: Dick Hallorannn shows Danny and Wendy the ice box and reaches for it with his left hand. In the next shot as the door opens he's holding it with his right hand.

Continuity: As they leave the ice box Dick Hallorannn turns off the light switch on the left of the door but when they walked into the ice box it was on the right side and he never turned it on.

Continuity: The pediatrician sits on the side of his bed and talks to Danny as he lays there. Her brown medical bag is behind her at the foot of the bed and is moved several times throughout the scene even though she never goes near it.

Continuity: The pediatrician says to him, "Now Danny, can you remember what you were doing just before you started brushing your teeth?" and her bangs are combed differently each time we see her.

Continuity: Jack has his interview with Mr. Ullman and the pictures on the right wall change when Bill Watson comes into the office later to join them.

Continuity: After Mr. Ullman tells Jack the story of, "the tragedy we had up here in the winter of 1970" there's a close-up shot of Bill Watson again and it's clear to see that the refrigerator behind him has been moved to the right during the scene without any one going near it. If you look closely when Bill Watson walks into the room the refrigerator extends about two inches past the left of the picture above, then when seen again several shots later it's perfectly even with the picture above.

Continuity: Mr. Ullman greets Jack as he walks into his office for the interview and we see a statue of an eagle sitting on the center of his window. The statue is in some shots and not in others during the interview.

Continuity: Jack is walking through the apartment towards the bathroom door with the ax. In the scene before he enters the apartment, "redrum" is written on the bathroom door. In the shot where we see him getting ready to break down the bathroom door, "redrum" is missing from the door.

Continuity: The cars in the parking lot change after Mr. Ullman says, "But I wouldn't want to go in there, unless I had an hour to spare to find my way out."
