Continuity: When he calls his friend Larry at Durkin's garage, Dick Hallorann has a small pile of change on top of his briefcase at the pay phone in the airport. He doesn't move his left hand from the phone or his right hand from his pocket, but the pile of change gets bigger and moves around throughout the scene. In one shot a nickel appears out of nowhere on top of the quarter on the right.

Continuity: Danny picks up the knife and says "Redrum", after he walks over to Wendy as she sleeps. If you look closely behind the television set, there's a white radiator that wasn't there earlier in the movie as Wendy paced around the apartment trying to decide what to do with Danny.

Continuity: After Wendy helps him out of the bathroom window, Danny slides down the mound of snow on his back without it ever touching the front of his sweater. The next time we see him in a close-up the front of his sweater is full of snow.

Deliberate "mistake": Jack says, "Wendy, baby, I think you hurt my head real bad" as he's locked up in the storeroom, and the camera shoots up at his face from the floor. If you look closely extra boxes were moved in on the left and right above his head. The boxes in this shot extend past the frame of the door, in previous and subsequent shots the boxes are at least six inches away from the doorframe.

Continuity: Danny picks up the knife that Wendy brought up from the kitchen and we see a pack of cigarettes and a blue lighter in front of the lamp on the night table. They have all been removed in the next shot as he prints "Redrum" on the bathroom door.

Continuity: As Danny picks up Wendy's lipstick there's a red pearl necklace draped over the jewelry chest in the center of her bureau. No one goes near it but when we see this spot again as Wendy sees "Redrum" reflecting in the mirror, it's gone.

Continuity: Wendy drags Jack across the dirty floor to the storeroom and we see dirt on the seat of his pants as he gets up and rushes to the door as Wendy runs out. The next time we see the back of his pants he's still in the storeroom but they've been cleaned without a spot of dirt on them.

Continuity: After dragging him into it, Wendy runs out of the storeroom and closes the door twice as she locks Jack in.

Continuity: When Jack walks in on Wendy going through his typing the box of papers on the right of his typewriter have been moved from when she first walked past it. She never goes near it or that side of the table but at first it's not even with the edge of the table then when he walks in it is.

Continuity: When Jack walks in on Wendy going through his typing he startles her and as she picks up the baseball bat she doesn't have time to make sure that the name is facing the camera, and it isn't. She's not twirling the bat as we see in the next 17 shots of it, where Carl Yastrzemski's name is there and in front of the camera.

Continuity: As Wendy goes through Jack's typing she reads 21 lines as she rolls the sheet up through the typewriter carriage. We see in the close-up how the piece of paper is inserted in the typewriter and when we see it again after she pulls it up, it hasn't moved and is in exactly the same position as it was before she read it.

Continuity: As she's looking for him, Wendy walks with her bat into the back of The Colorado Lounge and says Jack's name. When she does this she's in the dark but in the next shot she's all lit up and we can even read the label on the baseball bat.

Continuity: Wendy Runs into Danny's room after she hears him say "Redrum" and says to him, "You having a bad dream?" while her left hand is under his arm. In the next shot it's caressing his shoulder.

Continuity: Jack sits at The Gold Room bar during the party and Lloyd the bartender gives him a bowl full of olives. The olives move in the bowl between shots without being touched.

Continuity: When Jack walks into The Gold Room, he turns the lights on and we see that the overhead lights illuminating the gold leaf ceiling on the left of the room, are lit. In the next shot as he sits down at the bar, they are off.

Continuity: Danny kneels on the brown and orange design of the carpet, playing with his toys as a green tennis ball comes rolling at him. He looks up and just before he stands if you look at the seam, the tennis ball is rotated between shots without him touching it.

Continuity: Wendy uses the radio in Mr. Ullman's office to call the forest rangers and the clock on the rangers wall reads 11:40. In the next shot Danny is riding around through the kitchen and the clock now reads 6:10.

Continuity: After they leave the ice box, Dick Hallorannn turns the corner and proceeds to show them the storeroom. Before they enter, we see a prominent red fire extinguisher hanging against the column where Wendy eventually gets her knife later in the movie. Several shots later as Dick Hallorannn discusses "Shining" with Danny, the fire extinguisher is removed from the column.

Continuity: As Wendy brings Jack his breakfast and the Gold Room sign is moved from the right of the entrance where it was during Jack’s interview, to the left.

Continuity: Wendy tries to use the phone to call the forest rangers and it doesn't work, so she walks to Mr. Ullman's office to use the radio. As she walks past the table that the hedge maze is on, it has been moved in relation to the designs on the floor underneath it from when Jack walked over to that spot a few shots ago.
