Factual error: The snow drift that reaches up to the bathroom window is huge and extends all the way to the top of the building. As we look at the long shot of Danny standing at the bottom of this drift it's easy to see that the other drift to his right is not even one quarter of the size, which would not happen, in a real snowstorm with two sections of a building facing in the exact same direction. Deliberate "mistake": Jack looks into the lobby of The Overlook as he hears Dick Halloran yelling, "Hello". It's interesting to see that the overhead chandelier above the miniature hedge maze has been removed in this scene so it wouldn't block the view of the lobby. The chandelier was there earlier in the movie as Jack walked to his interview and as Wendy brought Jack his breakfast. It returns to its place in the next shot. Submitted by ????

Continuity: After Jack breaks into their apartment he walks past the refrigerator and we see that it's now been moved six inches to the left, off the carpet from where we saw it before. Submitted by ????

Continuity: After Jack hits Dick Halloran in the chest with the axe, looking at the designs on the floor in the two shots we see them in, the chairs on their right move almost a foot in the direction of the miniature hedge maze without anyone going near them. Submitted by ????

Continuity: After he axes through the bathroom door Jack ends up chasing Danny through the kitchen and walking past the store room he was just locked up in. If you look closely the back wall of the store room has been rearranged considerably with boxes now stacked at least six foot high extending past and covering the prominent no smoking sign that we saw earlier. Continuity: Before Jack peaks through the door and says, "Here's Johnny" there's a long piece of wood hanging off the left side of the opening. In the next shot filmed from the other side of the door, it's not there. Submitted by ????

Continuity: After Dick Halloran pulls up in the Snowcat, Danny runs into the kitchen and hides in a sliding metal cabinet. We see this same room later as Jack chases him after killing Dick Halloran, and it has changed color, now being a bright yellow. Submitted by ????

Deliberate "mistake": As Wendy stands around in the apartment waiting for Jack to come back from room 237 we see that the apartment is a lovely peach color. Earlier in the movie as he sits on the bed when Danny comes in looking for his fire engine the room was a different color, somewhere in the lavender range. Submitted by ????

Continuity: As we see Dick Halloran walking towards the entrance of The Overlook the Snowcat is not in the same spot by the window where he parked it before. Submitted by ????

Continuity: Danny runs around The Overlook ending up in the kitchen as he hides from Jack, and the artificial snow on his sweater never melts. Submitted by ????

Continuity: After Jack breaks into their apartment and starts heading for the bathroom Wendy throws the knife into the sink and it lands on the bottom with the handle to the right. Later when she reaches for it again the handle is in the opposite direction and it's leaning on the edge of the sink. Submitted by ????

Continuity: Lots of stuff near the bathroom sink (bar of soap, towel, razor) moves from the time Wendy throws the knife into it to when she picks it back up. She's doesn't go near any of this stuff and the best are the toothbrushes which are rearranged in their rack, with the blue one disappearing. Submitted by ????

Continuity: It takes 5 swings before Jack breaks through the front door of their apartment, then they cut away to Wendy locking Danny in the bathroom and we hear Jack take another 6 swings to make a total of 11. After this shot they cut back to him swinging the ax again, and if you look at the hole in the door, it hasn't changed a bit. Submitted by ????

Continuity: After Jack says, "Wendy I'm home," he removes a piece of wood from the door before he unlocks it. If you look closely, this piece of wood is flipped over and reversed between shots. Submitted by ????

Continuity: Wendy takes one of Danny's baseball bats and walks into the back of The Colorado Lounge and the bearskin rug in front of the fireplace has disappeared. Submitted by ????

Deliberate "mistake": As Wendy drags Jack across the kitchen floor to the storeroom there are two chairs on the left of the kitchen table straight across from each other and about six inches in from the edge. Later, after Wendy runs out of the storeroom, we see the chair at the far end of the table, but the one closest to the storeroom has been moved out of the shot. Submitted by ????

Continuity: Wendy opens up the bathroom window and tries to climb outside and in the close-up, her right arm and head are through the window. In the next shot both her arms and head are outside of the window. Submitted by ????

Continuity: When he calls his friend Larry at Durkin's garage, Dick Hallorann has a small pile of change on top of his briefcase at the pay phone in the airport. He doesn't move his left hand from the phone or his right hand from his pocket, but the pile of change gets bigger and moves around throughout the scene. Continuity: Danny picks up the knife and says "Redrum", after he walks over to Wendy as she sleeps. If you look closely behind the television set, there's a white radiator that wasn't there earlier in the movie as Wendy paced around the apartment trying to decide what to do with Danny. Continuity: After Wendy helps him out of the bathroom window, Danny slides down the mound of snow on his back without it ever touching the front of his sweater. The next time we see him in a close-up the front of his sweater is full of snow. Submitted by ????
