The Shining (1980) - 22 major mistakes
Directed by Stanley Kubrick, starring Barry Nelson, Danny Lloyd, Jack Nicholson, Scatman Crothers, Shelley Duvall
Continuity: When Danny is playing alone in the corridor, with his toy cars and trucks, in the overhead shot, the little vehicles are set up on the orange and brown pattern, as the ball roles to him down the center brown path in the carpet's sextagon pattern. However, in Danny's close-up, when the ball is in front of him, all the little toy vehicles are now set up (still the same way) on the opposite side of the carpet's distinct pattern, as he also faces the opposite way. This mistake has absolutely nothing to do with the ghosts of The Outlook moving the ball.
Other: Jack switches on the outdoor lights as he prepares to chase Danny into the hedge maze. When he hits the fifth switch a stage light blows out. Submitted by ????
Visible crew/equipment: Danny goes up to the apartment to get his fire engine and you can see the shadow of the cameraman on the front of his sweater. Submitted by ????
Continuity: When Wendy asks Mr. Ullman "when was the Overlook built?", the position of the characters has jumped almost 50 feet closer to the garage. Submitted by ????
Visible crew/equipment: The shadow of a crew member is visible down the hall, to the right of the door, just above Wendy's knife, as she gets to the top of the stairs.

Continuity: The level of the snow outside the hedge maze is at least five feet deep as the lamp posts stick up halfway through it, and all the large stones are totally covered. As soon as Danny starts running inside the hedge maze the snow is at ground level as you can see by the lights and benches that he passes along the way. Submitted by ????
Continuity: As Jack leaves The Overlook and begins to chase Danny we see a very bright streetlamp "shining" in front of the Snowcat. Later as Danny and Wendy escape it's not there. Submitted by ????
Continuity: As Wendy talks to the forest ranger look closely at the US Forest Service emblem above his head. It goes up about six inches on the wall throughout the scene. Submitted by ????
Continuity: When Wendy is looking through all the typed sheets where Jack has typed 'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy', you can see that they are getting disorganised, and when Jack sneaks up on her, she gets a fright and puts them down in an untidy pile. However, in the next shot, they are in a relatively neat pile again in the tray.
Visible crew/equipment: At the end of the movie as Danny rounds the first corner in the hedge maze the cameraman's shadow can be seen on the snow as he follows him. Submitted by ????
Continuity: Wendy runs outside looking for Danny and she ends up right next to the Sno-Cat. There's hardly any snow on the driver side door but the next time we see it two shots later the door and the treads are now full of snow. Submitted by ????
Continuity: Danny makes a left turn as he drives his tricycle around and he sees the two girls standing at the far end of the hallway. He doesn't move a muscle as he sits there looking at them but his hands are in different positions on the handgrips between shots. Submitted by ????
