Continuity mistake: Adaline takes the glass of liquor from Ellis' hand and finishes it. Once she walks out the door the glass is next to Ellis again, and when she appears outside it's filled again.
Other mistake: In the beginning, Adaline's husband dies. At the funeral, their daughter looks to be about ten. But then when Adaline is driving to her parent's place and the commentary says, "Where her five-year-old daughter is waiting for her." There's no way the child at the funeral was five years old.
Continuity mistake: Adaline takes a glass filled with some liquor from Ellis' hand while he is on the phone and she walks out with it, but in the next shot we see that same glass back on the counter beside Ellis. (01:17:15)
Character mistake: When Jenny is dead, Ellis attempts CPR on her, but his hands on her chest are far too high; they should be just up from the base of her sternum, his are nearly under her chin.
Continuity mistake: When William meets and helps Adaline with her car the sun changes between shots.
Other mistake: Near the end, Ellen Burstyn is holding the new puppy, referring to the dog as a female. Right after that, she is talking to Ellis with the puppy there, and they refer to the dog as a male.
Chosen answer: It was because she had used so many fake I.D. the F.B.I. had become suspicious, possibly believing she was involved in some type of criminal activity, which is often why people assume different identities.
