When we first see Andy Dick, who plays the guy at the front desk of the motel, he is reading/looking at a Celebrity Skin magazine, with Drew Barrymore on the cover. This magazine was chosen by Todd Phillips as an inside joke, because at the time this movie was filmed, Drew Barrymore was engaged to Tom Green, who plays Barry.
The scenes supposedly taking place at the University of Austin were actually filmed at Emory University in Atlanta.
Fred Ward plays Kyle's dad, and is only ever referred to as "Earl" - a deliberate inside joke by the writers, to pay tribute to Ward's character Earl in Tremors and Tremors 2, two movies that the writers were big fans of.
