After Fetuccini tells Nicholas to check for any useful items in the magic trunk, he gets to work right away but first needs to light a kerosene lamp on the floor. Once he replaces the lamp's chimney, notice how the knob is pointing to the trunk. A few minutes later in the same room, Nicholas is passed out.
