Quotes
Mr. Gibbs: It's bad luck to wake a man when he's sleeping.
Jack Sparrow: Ah, but fortunately I know how to counter it: The man who did the waking buys the man who was sleeping a drink; and then the man who was sleeping drinks it while listening to a proposition from the man who did the waking.
Mr. Gibbs: Aye...that'll about do it. [He gets up and Will dumps another bucket of water over his head.] BLAST! I'm already awake!!
Will: THAT was for the smell.
Mistakes
After Will And Jack commandeer the Interceptor, the ship is viewed from above, sailing on a beam reach (a point of sail in which the boat is at 90 degrees to the wind). When Jack knocks Will off the ship with the boom, he jibes the boat, causing the sail to shift positions suddenly. In order to do this from the previous position, he would have had to turn the ship almost completely around. This would have taken well over a minute. Jack did this in less that three seconds. The sail is also filled to the wrong side while it sweeps Will off the deck. See more...
Trivia
After we see the Disney ride scene at the jail, where the pirates are trying to get the dog to come near them with a bone, Jack Sparrow says to the pirates "You can keep doing that forever, that dog is never going to move." Besides the obvious visual reference to the ride, the line's relevant too - as in the Disney ride, the pirates *will* keep doing that forever, and the dog *is* never going to move. See more...

| Original entry | In one of the deleted scenes on the DVD where Jack and the pirates are improvising about the French ("They invented mayonnaise"), his last line in the clip is "I'll get me coat." This is a reference to "The Fast Show," which featured a guest appearance by Johnny Depp (Jack) in its final show. |
