Mallory O'Brian: I'm sorry to be rude, but are you a moron?

Sam Seaborn: In this particular area, yes.

Mallory O'Brian: The 18th president was Ulysses S. Grant and the Roosevelt Room was named for Theodore.

Mallory O'Brian: Yes.

Sam Seaborn: The thing is while there really are a great many things on which I can speak with authority, I'm not good at talking about the White House.

Josh and Amy are in a restaurant having breakfast and talking about the vote - the sugar dispenser can be seen next to some yellow flowers. In subsequent shots the flowers are still there but the dispenser has disappeared, even though no one touched it. See more...

Trivia

Janel Moloney (Donna Moss) was originally intended to be a rarely seen or heard background player (similar to Tobey and Sam's assistants). But very quickly, her banter and rapport with Josh became a fan favorite and she was promptly made a regular cast member and given much more screen time. When Mandy was dropped from the show after season one, Moira Kelly's name and image were dropped from the opening credits, replaced by Janel. As they say, "There are no small parts. Only small actors." See more...

The entry you are changing the wording of is:

Title The West Wing
Original entry In the scene at the end of the episode where the White House staff is sitting on Josh's front steps drinking beer and waiting for the results of the midterm elections, Sam reports that in the final 12 contested races, all 12 incumbents lost and the Democrat/Republican house balance in those races stayed the same - 7 to 5. If there were 7 incumbents of one party and 5 of the other - and they all lost - wouldn't the margin now be 5 to 7 the other way? I could see the "hold" if it was 6-6, but 7-5?
