Heath Ledger found inspiration for his portrayal of the Joker from Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious, among other sources. Gary Oldman (who plays Commissioner Gordon in the film) played Vicious in the biopic <a target="_blank" href="http://www.moviemistakes.com/film1782">Sid and Nancy</a>.
